Would anyone know which is the check engine light on the dash of the samurai european models? I am looking to check the TBI error codes if any. The manuals refer to the check engine light which is absent. Is there any other way to do it?
thank you.

I don't have a samurai FSM, but I on some trac/kicks, the plug you jumper to get the dash light to flas also has "outputs" for that flash code.
I'll check the 2 FSMs I have and see about getting the pinout.
Is your diagnostic plug near the battery the 4pin or 6pin version?

On mine, I have to put a fuse in the diag fuse slot inside the fuse panel.

SnoFalls, how did I guess you were from the Snoqualmie area before I checked your info?
You don't happen to have a FSM that covers the '95 JX 4dr with the 16v and auto do you? If so, I have a few questions for you. PM me so this thread doesn't get highjacked.

There was no factory fitted CEL?

meant to post this yesterday but forgot ...
if you have a 4-pin plug (aka like this)
then:
1) jumper B<->C to enable the code-blink
2) jumper C<->D to set timing
3) no idear what the "A' terminal does, but it just *may* pulse 12v during the code-blink (at least worth a shot to watch it with a meter)
if you have a 6-pin plug (aka like this)
Then:
I can't help much other than what the picture shows (neither FSM of mine references it). Again tho, you could try jumpering the B<->D terminals and then probe for a 12v pulse coming from another terminal (I'm *certain* that this style plug will blink).
(note: the pics above were linked from zuwharrie).

The EFI supplement for the 1990-1994 samurai is available from
http://www.suzukiinfo.com
The manual seems to show that the fault codes cannot be read without a Check Engine Light. If you don't have one then you need to attach a bulb to the ECU output.

thank you for your replies.
I believe mine is the model which was made in spain. will check tomorrow morning about the connector/ecu. Would you know of any manuals specific to the spanish version? anyone knows the differences in the makes? is it just the electrical/electronic systems or is there more?

I checked all over today, but I can not find the connector anywhere. The engine is definitely fed by a single point injection system. Even on the fuse panel, there's no extra fuse slot for the diag port.
Does anyone know where the diag connector might be on my version?
thank you

On some models the plug is just behind the (US) passenger side headlight. Spanish models still use a DSM/Hitachi ECU but could vary from the Japanese models. I don't know of any Service manuals that are specific to the Spanish models, on my Vit I had to trace all the wiring using a Digital Multimeter.
The CEL usually has a small picture of an engine on it, it shoulod come on when the ignition is first turned on but the bulb may be blown.
