Title: Headlight issue (96 tracker)
Post by: Riddick on November 28, 2007, 12:29:13 PM
So today I decide to buy some new headlights for my 1996 tracker I just purchased last night.

I noticed today after installing the headlights that when turned on, one headlight is on low beam and the other high beam but when I hit the high beams, they one on low goes to high and the one high goes to low. they basically switch.

Can anyone explain to me what's up? This rig was used as vehicle that was towed behind a RV, could they have spliced the wiring or is it something else?

When I got my 96 kick it had the same thing going on. I pulled the bulb that was 'wrong' and rotated it and the problem was solved. On my other vehicles the bulb was indexed where it could only be installed in one position but this does not seem to be the case for the Track/Kick.

Good idea, something you should check.

Also, you could swap the bulbs from side to side to make sure that one of the bulbs wasn't made incorrectly.  That could happen.

You never know with RV setups.  The wiring could have been used for something, but it's not very likely as they only need the brakes and turn signals hooked up for towing.
