Title: 225/70/16's on my 2002 XL7
Post by: csa on December 10, 2007, 12:45:36 PM
Hey guys, this is my first post here. I am taking my wife's XL7 from her as my second car and need to add a little manliness to it. Thinking about replacing the stock 235's with 225/70/16's and wanted to get everyones advice. I't won't be used for off road very much (got a Toyota for that), but I would like a all terrain pattern. I'd like to know which tires are good and which to avoid. Also, if anyone has pictures of this size or similar on a stock suspension XL7, I'd sure like to see them. Gonna add nerfs and a bull bar soon. Also, does anyone make a light bat for the roof rack? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm gonna have more.

Chris

I have 225/75R16's on our XL7.  A little taller than the size you're looking at but mine fit with only minor rubbing on the inner plastic wheel well.  I hear the size you want fits without any rubbing.

Look for a tire that is a LT metric and not P metric.  This is a body on frame truck with a transfer case and a solid rear axle so you might as well buy tires meant for a truck and not a passenger car.

I've heard good things about the new General AT's but I generally only buy mud terrains.  The XL7 is my wife's DD and it has muds on it.
