Title: **Iignition Problems?**
Post by: hemiwin on December 16, 2007, 08:11:28 AM
I started my 1990 Samurai, it ran fine for about 5 min.  Then it lost power, started to die, but it kept running.

Just down the road it died completely, but started right back up. A couple of min. later it died again, and after starting it back up it ran for a few seconds and died for good.

I thought a first it might be fuel line freeze, but it wouldn't fire using starter fluid.  It seems like it might be electrical.  I  did check the ign/coil fuse under the dash.

Any idea why it wont start???

THANKS

Loose battery terminals possibly.

Either that, or another ground somewhere might be givig up.

It turns over, just won't start.  I found out that it is more than likely the ECM (bad capacitors).  I am sending it in for a test/repair.
Apparently, EFI samurais are notorious for ECM's going bad for weak capacitors.

I will let you know how it tuns out.

THANKS
