Title: 10.50 or 11.50?
Post by: 96kickjx on December 17, 2007, 05:12:54 PM
Hi I have the 3" calmini body lift and about to put on Jeff1997's spacers with procomp ES1000 shocks for a total of 5" of lift. I'm looking into getting the General Grabber AT2's, nothing serious like swampers, but a pretty aggressive tire. I want zero rubbing or little as possible. Jeff told me on his sport he runs 31x11.50's on his stock 16" wheels. Is the wheel well room in the sports any more than the jx 4-door? Should I do 10.50 or 11.50. I'm thinking 10.50, I know it's not that much difference from 11.50 but idk. Also my kick is stock. for now performance wise. It won't be used for serious mudding yet. I already know it's gonna struggle like hell to carry 31's but hey, I want em, I'm getting em. So 10.50 or 11.50 and will either have me rubbing up front anywhere, not worried about back. And I'll have the shrockworks winch bumper soon, whenever they finally send it.
O yeah and my wheels are 15x7's.

Thanks, and Jeff is great, very helpful too.

O, I failed to tell you I use 1.5" wheel spacers as well. That really is the only way the 11.5's fit. STICK with the 10.5's

Narrower is better.

Less wear and tear, better gas mileage, less chance of rubbing. The only downside is for sand or deep mud you don't have as good flotation, but you can just air down. It's only an inch anyway.

That's the beauty of having a light car, you don't need wide tires.  The rig is light enough to have skinny tires, it also works to your advantage.  The narrow tires work like a pizza cutter, giving you more control.  Unlike a wide tire, you wont dig in a tend to push the front end.
Pizza cutters are the way to go!

Okay cool, so I'll go with the 31x10.50. With my turck stock, I know it's gonna have a rough ass time pulling those 31's, but I think it'll handle it. This little truck handles just about every task I give her. U guys think it'll be okay? For now it's just gonna be highway driving.

You're going to be fine. If you have a 5 speed, keep your eyes open for some lower gears, If you find some 5.63 gears out of an 89 1.3 sidekick they will put you almost back to stock gearing. Or if Richmond actually starts producing R&P's for kicks, 5.83's will put the truck back to stock gearing with 31's
