If its running rich the spark plug tips will be black. To measure the fuel pressure you need a gauge and an adapter that screws into the fuel rail (16V) or some sort of t-piece (8V). Fuel pressure for an 8V is around 43.5psi

Let me know if you find an adapter for the 16 valve rail, I think it is 14mmx1.25, the only way I could get one from snap-on was to buy their whole set(ya i'm gunna take out a loan just to buy that, LOL) it would be nice just to have the one ya need.

16V or 8V engine??? the 8V runs 34-36 PSI, not sure on the 16V
first check would be the air filter then the MAP or MAF depending
on the engine and then the O2 sensor, last thing to look at would
be the fuel pressure, the pressure regulator is as reliable as dirt, MAPs
and MAFs and O2s die with use and filters get plugged.

There is a couple of diffrent rails for the 16 valve and one of them that has the extra parts on it messes up once and a while, not sure what the diffrence is? or what the extra part is for.
