The "Maruti Gypsy" is still being made in India and sold only overseas. I used to have one in Australia.

This is my 1986 SJ413K, in the UK we only got the 410 and 413 (narrow axle) versions. I'm not even sure that they made a Samurai version. From what I've read they weren't sold in the US but a few have made their way over from Canada. They're not really suited to tall/large people, the rear of the cab is just behind the B pillar so the seats don't move back, the headrests are fixed to the rear bulkhead. Its a LWB chassis (not the same as the passenger vehicle) but the bed is still only 5ft long.
It took me quite a long time to find mine and I had to pay more than I would have done for a Samurai in a similar condition. I've fitted a 1.6 and I will lift it a bit but it will stay pretty standard, it would be a shame to hack up something thats a bit unusual.
The one posted above has the Samurai wings but a 410 grille, that and the paintwork makes me think that its probably a modified SJ410 or SJ413.
Edit: Its also a soft top so i reckon its a DIY conversion
I've looked on the Maruti site but not seen the pick up version.
