Title: TinTop JX w/ AC: How many made, limited numbers?
Post by: MiniFJ on December 29, 2007, 04:29:57 PM
I just picked up a bone stock '87 Tin Top JX w/ A/C. Just wondering how many Tin Tops w/ A/C were made, link with the info or any info on it and what is something like this going for these days. I own and know about samurai, I've heard that Tin Tops w/ A/C are rare but don’t know for sure and I’m new to the pricing game when it comes down to Samurais. Everything does work, runs and drives but needs a little help.

Any info is good info to me. Thanks for your help.

IIRC, A/C on samis was a dealer installed option, so "production" numbers are probably hard to come by.

One more question....

Are the a/c systems on the samurai's R12 or 134?? The a/c blows cold but should be blowing colder.

R12.  I have put in several A/C in sammys.  If everything works right it should be decent in a hard top. They really can't put enough CFM to cool a soft top in hot weather. I live in California's central valley.  An A/c properly installed has a wire to the back of the instument cluster on one of the studs on the cucuits that turns the compressor off when it reaches a certain temperature.  In my experience it usually stops the A/C when you need it the most.  it is a safety for the engine to prevent it from over heating.  I usually keep that connector unhooked unless I let the wife drive it.  the connector is usually to the left of the stereo.  there I gave you more info than you asked for.
