just wondering what the proper procedure is ,took a look at my owners manuel and it says "special tools/procedure" take to dealership,blah,blah,blah.Just want some insight,as my xl7 has hit the 100,000km mark.Thanks!

I change mine all the time. There is a drain plug on the pan. Every other time I pull the pan and replace the filter. It's a 10 minute job to drain with the plug. Just be careful not to overfill it. Or as I learned it will spew out the fill tube and make more smoke than you can imagine. Check your manual, it takes 2.4 quarts or something.

at the 100,000km mark should i make sure to pump out the torqe converter(gonna have to go to the dealership for that)or in your opinion is it not nessasry,i am not to sure.

you can take it to a dealership or a quickie oil change place and have them pump new fluid through via the trans cooler lines to the radiator. But with scheduled fluid changes I doubt you'll need to do it. Heck with the 2.4 quarts it takes to refill the trans drain I change mine all the time. And I use a semi synthetic trans fluid.

some vehicles have a torque converter drain plug you can get to. I don't know if the XL-7 has one or not. If not letting it sit overnight should drain some of the fluid out of the tq converter. But unless you raised the front end up high enough it would not drain the bottom half. Worse comes to worse doing a couple fluid changes over a couple days should get any of it in case the fluid was burnt.

Just realize that this will require more fluid than most maintenance manuals say for a simple pan drop and filter change as they don't count on it sitting long enough for fluid to drain out of the TC and elsewhere like it will if you let it sit. Buy extra ATF, you can always return any extra.

Quick question as I am about to do this myself. So I just pull the drain plug on the Trans pan, let it drain, put the drain plug back and fill through dipstick hole? Start the zuk, shift through the gears, shut off the zuk and check trans fluid level with dip stick?
Also, what Auto trans fluid is everyone using?

If you're only changing the fluid then yes...however you have a dirty filter in there so you need to change that as well.
You drain the fluid, take the pan off, change the filter, put the pan back on with the supplied gasket, and then continue on.
I prefer Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.
