Title: I need to gain weight!
Post by: keith on November 01, 2004, 11:57:16 PM
I have noticed that my 01 rides rougher when just I am in it then when I have a passenger.  Last night I bought 3 60# tubes of sand.  With them in the passenger seat it rode better.  What does this say about the suspension?  Too firm of shocks?  If I can't get this thing to ride more comfortably I may have to get rid of it!

not sure what suspension you  run but most supplies account for winchbumper winch with wire rope and all the toys that most of use bolt to the truck to make it go better.

I found my truck was a apain until it had a winch bumper and winch. the more that i bolted to it the better it got

It means that you have to lift it and put on some boggers... that way you won't be able to feel the rough ride of the suspension over the rough ride of the tires ;)

I think Mike71 might have the right idea. Check the tire pressure. These little trucklets are very sensitive about their tire pressure and you have to find the right amount to ride smooth without being too soft and hurting economy. 26 sounds like a good place to start...

26 !!!!   try 23 for stock tires,
less for bigger ones, try 20 PSI
and see how it feels

yea dude, when we had my old bias plys on jens tracker they were soooo much smoother on the road aired down, but we found running them around 21 psi worked well for every day driving. now with her new swampers, they ride awsome at around 26.

Ditto, take a look at the wear pattern on the tire. I have a rated D level tire requiring 65 psi (max), I run at 40 now and I'm still bleeding it down. I'm testing the streetability, traction (mostly rain now), turning, sliding, skidding, etc at these different pressures.
Get a better set of aggressive tires on it and see. Swap your wheels from the 91 to the 01 and go for a ride.
