Title: Calmini Performance Carb
Post by: texasjet on January 14, 2008, 10:16:18 AM
I was planning on purchasing the Calmini Performance Carb Kit but before I did I wanted to get feedback as to the difference in overall performance it made.

How much horsepower difference did you notice if any?

Was it wasy to install?

Would you recommend putting it in?

I believe that the Empi carb is a Weber copy, do a search for Weber carb. Overall feedback seems to be a good power increase but some stalling problems on steep inclines. I posted a link to the installation instructions a few weeks back.

You're better off buying the ZUks off road sidedraft carb.  about 100 less than Calmini's performance carb.  I used to own 2 weber (EMPI) carbs.  it was nightmare.... Unless you're an expert in those carb.  The installation was breeze.  but after awhile they start to act up.  then you gotta tune it.

ZOR's sidedraft, my friends got those.  I am impressed with those carbs.  they work flawlessly.

How was the power increase?

had the weber on mine. loved the power increase, but it sucked on steep climbs offroad. save your money and buy the throttle body injection.  mine will even run upside down now.
if your only driving on the street you'll be okay with the carb

similar to Weber.  maybe more.  but the throttle response.... the Sidedraft has the advantage.  But.... hugeee difference between the stock carb and Sidedraft.

If it's not too late, here's one from Seattle's Craigslist.
