Title: speedometer sensor
Post by: Rally_T-115 on January 15, 2008, 08:33:45 PM
What type of speedometer sensor is on my Grand Vitara?  Is it an actual (archaic) cable to my speedometer from the transfer case?  Or a magnetic-induction sensor (like an abs sensor) on the back of the transfer case?  Or Just the regular ABS sensors, averaged?

Reason I'm asking is I'm looking into installing a TSD rally computer and I need to see if the speed/distance sensor signal for the GV is compatable with the rally computer.

I'd go under and look myself but it's like -13C out there.

It's a gear-driven electrical pulse generator mounted in the TC.

So the signal is basically a clean +5v  0v  +5v  0v ...  square wave?  Sounds good so far.

Yes, the switched +5V is on the Blue/yellow wire.
