Title: Door bezel
Post by: reb on January 21, 2008, 10:29:46 AM
The bezel (is that the right word?, the part that holds the inside handle, on the door of my Sport broke.  Is there a place to find a replacement?  I imagine that junk yards would not want to sell such a small part of a door.

Thanks for the quick response.  What I am looking for is 24 or 25 (I can't tell which is the bezel), but for a Sport model.  I hadn't thought of looking at a dealership.  I figured this thing was old enough and not popular enough that this type of part would be available there.  I'll have to see what I can find on the web.  The nearest dealer is about 150 miles away, too far to make a special trip.

FYI, I replaced mine with a brand new one just after i first bought my sidekick.  Within a year the tabs on the back of it started to break again, the same problem that the old one had.  I took a short self-tapping metal screw and put it right in thru the plastic and into the door, and i haven't had a problem since.

I was kinda frustrated at the time that the thing was starting to break after it hadn't been in there for long, but i think that my "fix" has worked really well, and i highly recommend it, if the rest of the lever is working ok.

(You'll end up with 2 screws holding it in place).

Crikeymike, I like your fix.  Think I'll look into that.  Just gotta make sure it isn't too long.  Don't want to scratch the window.
