Title: Pics in Thread - My First Post - V8 Questions
Post by: WomenLoveMyZuki on February 01, 2008, 03:01:08 PM
I'm new to this forem - looks like lots of good information here. If I don't sell my women luving Zuki on eBay then i want to put a chevy v8 in it. Are there any v8 discussion threads here that someone can point me too? thanks

why would anyone even consider a v8 in a sami?

Cause its not as heavy as a V10

While I agree that a V8 in a sammy is is silly... "why ruin a perfect wieght distribution by hanging a few hundred extra pound up front" however your response about the v10 was freakin' brilliant! My best laugh of the day.

Cheers to ya'

Oh ya' check out lightning conversions.  http://www.suzukiconversion.com/

I will go with the 318 V8. That is a dynamic site - the purfect place to convert the sami motor

I have a couple observations. First off, in your ad you said it was a 4 door. Where are the other 2 doors? Second, why in the world would you actually think about installing a V8 into a lightweight little Sami?

Why not a high strung 16V 1.6L? The weight gain and power gain of the V8 offset each other. If you use the 16V instead you retain the lightweight that makes Suzukis such a joy to drive while completely getting rid of the downside of them, lack of power.

You need to keep in mind the power to weight ratio with these little rigs. They are very well balanced in stock trim. Modify them in main directions if far superior to going overboard and making it nose heavy.

But what do I know, I've only built better than 30 of these little boogers.

Gen-Erix: Thank you for that web site link to the diesel conversions. If I was looking for fuel ecomomy those would be the way to go. Great explanation on that web site about the conversion, too.

Idaholwb: While i appreciate your comments there is not a "high-strung" 1.6L made that is going to match the power and torque of a CORVETTE v8. While I can see what you mean about balance I'm just not into using my Sammy as an off-road vehicle. My current (for sale) Sammy has never seen a trail or even mud, just some dry beach sand occasionally.

What I want is a show stopper with POWER and TORQUE that will never see a tree limb or mud hole but will leave two smoldering streaks of burnt freshly-peeled rubber on the payment when the light turns green.

Freak: Thanks for the suzukiconversion.com web site. It sounds like they've got the v8 conversions down. For more balance, I see they add to the frame which must offset the extra weight of the v8 motor. For example, here is a Sammy with a v8 CORVETTE motor: http://www.suzukiconversion.com/suzuki_v8.htm. Plus, another benefit is that they put in an automatic transmission to match the v8.

This is the great thing about our Sammys - they're versatile little critters.

I have considered many times to channel a Sammy down over it's frame rake the window back, smooth out the sharp edges, add a Tracker front suspension with an aluminum small block 5 spd and a narrowed 9".

POW! A cool little road racer that'll pound on most street cars. If we all build the same rig it'll get old fast so I say build it as out of the ordinary as you like and pass along the pics so we can enjoy.

Freak!

4.3 is out of the question then?
I have seen videos of them laying down some nasty black marks.

But there is still nothing better than seeing a gnarly burn out, and not being able to hear any rubber screeching...only a big ol uncorked V8  ;D

I am currently selling this Sammy on eBay (eBay Item number: 110220441390) and someone will get a really great buy. The interior is in great condition as you can see from the above. I took a total of 25 more pictures today and they can be found at the bottom of the eBay auction web page.

Thanks for the chuckle, Florida boy.

??? True. The other night it got down to 28 degrees  :P.

Now we dont have snow but we have some darned cold weather. :'(

Zuki cold starts with just a touch of the key. It must be the reliability of the 1.6L. This EFI
fuel injected monster of a motor sounds runs and sounds great especially when the header kicks
in. A real head-turner to say the least.

I have just put up 25 more pictures taken at the beach...

Only a few days left before someone is going to get a NICE Zuki.

My 88 sami has a fresh new starter in it, when its warm weather you can practically look at the ignition and it will start up.  But on colder mornings i have to pump the gas a couple times to get her going.

Yes, I've been enjoying hearing about all your adventures.  I suppose you're probably going to need the info on other forums by Feb-10-08 20:00:00 PST (2 days 13 hours), huh?

NOW you're talking "coldest of mornings".  Florida boy has no cred in this department.

Looks like he sold for 4850.  We'll probly never hear from him again, although according to his eBay history he may be hooked on selling Suzukis.  Not owning, just selling.
