Title: Emissions stuff
Post by: gatorbus on February 04, 2008, 10:43:13 AM
I am the new owner of an 88 Sami,  this truck hasn't been run in few years.  The previous owner said it came from CA.  I plan to use this for off-road use only.  The question I have is how will it run if I cleaned up the engine compartment of all the smog stuff?  Do these trucks have any computer controls?  Is this worth doing?  I know CA has tighter emission restrictions than FL where the truck now lives.

The only emissions thing I'd mess with is getting a hi-flow cat (with 2.5" exhaust, and header). Removing anything else will make it run like Shit. Unless you replace the whole stock carb - which comes highly recommended by a few.
