I got a pretty decent deal on a rebuilt 1.6 8V this aft. The header gasket is still bright silver like its never been run. The Tracker was rear ended so i got a mint rad as well :) Going to put it on a stand, check some clearances and then my bud is going to do some head work along with a cam...man I'm excited about this ;D

Sounds like a sweet deal,I'd like to run into a deal like that. It's been quite a while since I have found one. :(

We're pulling off the oil pan and head this weekend so that we can inspect the bottom end and check for any cylinder scoring. Then my bud is going to port and polish the head. We'll decide on what type of valve grind will be best for the beast. Plus I'll likely be ordering a Calmini cam for it ;D

make sure to paint her up real pretty too. ;)

Make sure to get the aluminum block done too, so it doesn't rust! ;D

LOL when I was driving home with it back there the old gears were turning about a mid-engined TrackKick....but that is soooo far beyond my ability and resources ;)

Well its been an interesting couple of weeks let me tell ya ;) We ripped apart the new(er) engine last Sunday...turned out it was a real good hack job...the block was very clean...all new gaskets, new seals...and whats that...a crack...shyte the frickin block was cracked...took it back to the wrecker and they gave me another engine, plus a second flywheel (so I can get it machined before hand)...oh and a refund. They in turn took their receipts back to the insurance company that they bought the wrecked Tracker from to get some $$ back from them.
This weekend we start the tear down and subsequent complete rebuild of the second engine.
Also...what's one of the best ways to start your day? Well today mine started off by seeing two boxes stuffed under my BBQ...odd I thought...pulled one of the boxes to see CALMINI blazed across the top...SWEET!! My cam and clutch came in yesterday but there was no one home to sign for them so they hid them under the BBQ cover in the back yard LOL....I'm some kind of looking forward to getting this thing built!!!

Sounds fun... and remember, lots of pics along the way for us pic-hounds ;D

Sure I can do that...FYI the duration on the Calmini cam is 288 for both intake and exhaust...I don't remember off hand what the lift is.
