damn your tailgate has copped a floggin :o ;D
-
looks like you tuned up your bumper cover rather nicely.
-
what lift r u runnin?
-
ANTT:
the tail gate was when i had the spare on it, and i slid down a hill i was trying to climb and hit a tree with the spare.
Speedracer7c:
which bumper are you talking about. rear? the rear is just the outer cover (to keep cops happy) there is no metal reinforcment under it.... yet. there are the 4 screws at the top under the tail gate, and the bottom is zip tied. the mud flap area is the only part of the body that rubs on the tyres.
92Sidekick4x4:
i have a 3" body lift (but measures more than 3") and i have 3" suspension lift (compared to standard)
all custom work fabricated at home. running 31"MT/Rs on 15x8 F100 wheels.

Howcome you have no metal under that thing! What are you gonna drag across rocks?
-
there is no metal under there because when i did the B/Lift, the metal would still bolt up in the original spot (lower) and the plastic bumper would not fit over it as good, and the cops told me off for not having a bumper. but the funny thing is, i was running the bear metal reinforcing bumper, but they wanted the plastic one on, so i had to take the other one off. duh.
where i am, theres not a whole lot of rocks that are a threat to me, just a few dirt roads, a lot of my when it rains, and a few hills that aren't really hills. so really boring here where i am.
i'm waiting to fix my rear diff first, then i'll get working on the front bash plate, rock sliders (like i need them) and fab a new rear bumper.

Against the law to not have a plastic cover over your bumper? wtf

probably against the law to have the exposed bolt ends sticking out.

He's over in Australia/NZ IIRC, and they have some wonky vehicle laws.
-
That is a pretty stout front bumper...did you fab it yourself? No problem bouncin' roos off that thing ;)
-
i think the law has something to do with exposing a lot of the fuel tank, even though there was a metal bumper to protect it. the thing was, they could see the tank.
so i put the plastic bumper on and it was all good. weird.
the front bumper is aluminium (aluminum), and i cut the two side rails off that go around the headlights. you can see on the side of the centre section where it was grinded flush, i still haven't painted it yet. there was also a bar that ran along the bottom which i cut off, as it hindered my approach angle. i also had to move the front bar up 3" to suit the body lift.
even though the front bar it aluminium, its pretty strong, as its fairly old. tougher in the older days. if i hit roos and stuff, its holds up ok, trees, depending on how big it is, are ok as well. but if i hit/ram a solid object, like a rock or another car (car wreck in bush) it will cop a lot of scratches and gouges out of it.
my tow hitch/ball is getting in the way most of the time, but it doesn't seem to stop me.

oh ok, i understand..
My front bumper is made out of a stop sign post.
-
My front bumper is made out of the old fashioned water pipe ;D
-
hey explosivo, do you have pics of your water pipe bumpers? are they actually water pipes for holding water, or do you just like the look?
i want to put some form of water container on my vit for when i got hunting, but can't seem to find any better solution than a water jerry.
thanks

My front bumper is made from tractor trailer flatbed stakes... ::)
LOL!
