I have to replace the front struts on my 90 tracker.
does anyone know of a napa or another type of strut with a little longer stroke???
I am installing jeffs spacers for the 2" lift

I spent the money on the Old Man Emu ones and they are awesome! I am very glad that I spent the money for them.
-
A friend had the old man emu and loved them!

you wantin cheapies? let me know what you find i'm doing the same

Heading to the wreckers today..... will let you know what I find

sounds good. i'm puttin the spacers on too.... after you flip the strut mount do yuo still have to buy a longer strut?
-
Thats my understanding. or lift strut up in mount or flip the top mount.
I am new here aswell and this is my first tracker. So far am finding these little trucks pretty dam awsome. A little worried about the power but it has to be better than my old SJ pick up with a .8L

well i looked in the diy section and i'm gonna flip the top strut mount ..... and put jeff's spacers on. i also got the 3" body lift from calmini so i'll have bout 5" of lift. my buddy built some sliders for his jeep and i'm putting them on mine so saved money on sliders.
where u located?

By flipping it you only gain 3/4" try this i find that on lowrange...

No. The strut mount flip re-locates the strut's range back to where it needs to be. If you want longer suspension travel, you need to get longer struts (OME is the only one I know of - I have them and love them) and longer springs (I have OME and love them, or you can get Ford 4x4 ranger / Honda Accord springs).
-
ok so with jeff's spacers all i have to do is flip my strut mount and i'm good to go with the spacers?
-
Thanks Jeriamiah
with the accord springs do we use the fronts and backs of the hondas for the front and back of the trackers?

No, in the stock configuration the strut still has 2" of unused travel when the A-arm is against the bump stop. Lowering the strut allows you to utilise this travel. So a 2" strut spacer will give an extra 2" of travel - something like 44% more travel. This will be reduced if your springs compress fully before the bump stop is reached, a disadvantage of spacers over longer springs.

i didn't know that... so when i flip the top mount to i have to do the exhaust flange thing too?
-
KYB GR-2s are nice for low cost stock length strut. Cheap from RockAuto.com

BK, I am in the same place as you here. Did anyone ever give you a definitive answer?

Jeremiah, I have two questions for you... one, where is a good place to buy OME stuff? Does ARB distribute them? Second, what more can you tell me about ranger springs? What year Ford ranger and how much longer are they? I am trying to put together the most economical 2" susp lift I can. Thanks!

I ENDED UP INSTALLING SPRINGS FROM A JEEP XJ. There is real good lift but the ride is very hard. I flipped the front strut mount and used the stock strut. I am not happy with the springs but they were freebes. I am now going to a local truck spring shop and getting some springs of the same material as stock custom twisted. Still saerching for longer front struts at the local napa store. Will keep ya posted
