Because your old clutch cable is probably stretched, you need to loosen all the adjustment components before the new cable will install.

Here is an article that Sarge and I created that explains how to adjust a clutch cable:

You can find it at Ack's FAQ by doing a search for clutch.

where the adjuster nuts go on the bracket.when you tighten it down the cable end won't go through the arm that controls the clutch..

You can try to hook up the pedal end of the cable, then hook up the tranny arm end of the cable (run the nut on just until the threaded portion of the cable is even with the end of the adjusting nut), then see where the bracket nuts need to be to get it to fit the bracket.
If the nuts can't be adjusted to work, then you could have the wrong cable....there are about 3 or 4 different types of cables for the trackicks (I know, I recently went through this with a guys sidekick I was working on).....don't believe what the auto parts stores computers tell you either.....some of them are wrong.  If you are sure you have the correct cable, then it is probably either a matter of adjusting the cable correctly, or one of the arms or shafts (pedal or tranny) could be twisted or in the wrong position.

That is the wrong cable then.  You need to get a different one.

Where did you get it?  Parts store or dealer?
Like I said before, if it is a parts store, they are probably just telling you what their computer is telling them....which is wrong (at least it was in my experience).
What brand and part number is on your cable?
