Of the three new Suzuki Equator concept vehicles, which one do you like best? There are more pictures of the vehicles here: http://www.zukiworld.com/month_020108/feature_suzuki-equator-first-look.htm
The more important question.... WHY do you like the one you selected best? Comments....
Thank you, Eric

If the QUAD (Olive drab one) is the Front page one.
I'd go for that one.
Cause it looks like a true Bad A#$ off Roader one
-
My vote is the QUAD (olive drab) as well. First off the color rocks. Look at that bumper! No need for an aftermarket one to wheel the truck. Usable roof rack, 4 doors, usable bed, BLACK WHEELS... all the right stuff to be a street fighter and not another chrome pile of crap (read toyotas). That is my 2 cents.
-
If the quad gets the equivalent of the NISMO offroad package it'd be my choice for sure. If they bring a diesel over for it I'll buy one in a heart beat.
-
Do you know who built that bumper on the OD one? ;)
-
The olive drab one not only has more "hardcore" styling cues but it also retains a more traditional Suzuki grill. Get rid of the ugly grill on the other two and they'd be ok.
-
I like the extended cab model. The rest look like foo-foo trucks. Who wants an expensive truck with all that stuff on it. It's just more crap to take off in 10 to 12 years when we can afford them and want to wheel them.

Is there a "none of the above" option? They look like re-badged Nissans to me, and I've not heard a lot of good things about Nissan's offroad reliability.
-
The Quad - ( Olive Drab ) , now if they would only bring to market something of their own like the X-Head, with gas or diesel options. I agree, not a re-badged Nissan. True innovation, and the quality we expect. A killer application that we'd give our left nut for.
-
Its got an E-locker, thats never a bad thing.
Amilla
-
............just another nissan.
-
id buy the olive one with extended cab. and put on the lift from the yellow one on and the lockers.
-
Looks just like my 05 frontier. My truck has the E-locker in the rear, rancho shocks and full armor under it from the factory. It was 23 and some change out the door.(NEW)
-
So its actually a rebadged frontier? I thought the fronteir got bigger? But this looks like the older smaller frontier?
Styling wise the fronteir was gorgeous i thought, one of the nicest trucks on the market as long as you stuck to black or red. This quad concept looks even better.
I've heard the frontier had supercharger issues, but other than that it seemed fairly capable offroad. Nobody else makes a light truck except the ford ranger, if this really is a remake on the 05 frontier I'll buy one in a heartbeat. Say what you want about nissan but at least its Japanese.
EDIT*
No nevermind that does look like the newer frontier. Bit big for a zuki :P Oh well at least it looks alot better than the new frontier. That grill is hideous on the Nissan...
BTW my vote goes to the Quad concept, its the only one that actually looks like a truck :/
-
The raw look...in my opinion i'd prefert if they will bring back the little Sammi in North America
-
hmm finally nice car... ;) the olive one is best 8) >:D
-
Overall I like the Quad, but there are a couple exterior styling options on the yellow one I like, too, like the lights over the cab and the Avalanche-style bed perimeter cover...
-
black one is best looking package, but we all know what trucks are for. If youre going to actually use it the drab olive is the only way to go.l
-
Of the three I'd go with the olive colored one...but it is a Nissan. How about something along the lines of a diesle powered Sami? Better yet,, a 4 door, diesle powered Sami
-
The olive drab one looks the best. the black one grille has too much ghetto bling to it. And I'm sick of yellow but the roll bar lights are alright.
-
Guys think about it...we (North America) are NEVER going to get the Sami back and no amount of hoping is going to make it happen. Meanwhile the GV and XL7 have gone further from their true 4x4 roots...this thing has a body on frame, solid rear axle, coil sprung IFS, powerful 4.0L V6, and is based upon what is arguably the class leading small pickup out there right now. If they make a Suzuki version of the NISMO package it'll be a solid wheeler right out of the box.
For whomever said they haven't heard good things about Nissan offroad remember that most would say that about Suzukis and the current Frontier is head and shoulders above anything from Suzuki right now.
-
I would have to say I like the styling of the Quad. It actually resembles a truck. The fact that it is a rebadged Frontier is a little dissappointing. Nissans aren't bad rig but, I was hoping that Suzuki would do something unique for there first entry into this market niche.
-
The Quad is the only one that doesn't look like some re-badged piece of chit so there really isn't a choice here folks, it is to be a Suzuki it has to be the Quad.
-
>:( Why bother, it just a rebadged Nissan. Suzuki use to import some great small untility vehicals that had they own identy. They have move away from that market are are now shooting to compete with all other manufactures. High end, option loaded, ski mom vehicals. That where they can get top return for the dollar. I morn the loss of the Sidekicks, Samurai, and first Vitara's. Soon all will be unibody, indepentent supensions, all wheel drive, no low range, but I sure they will have a cupholders, bluetooth equiped and M3P plug!

Quad looks mean.
"electronically controlled part-time two-speed transfer case"
I don't like the sound of that >:( Part time? WTF is that? 2 speed I hope means it has an actual low range. So is this a real transfer case? As long as the transfer case is real there something there to work with. Solid axle swap, gears, lockers and it would own!
-
First we got Daewookies, now its Nissukies? They all just look like rebadged, Nissans with some different trim. None of them excite me, but if I had to choose, I pick the drab olive as well. Personally I would be happiest if they would just give us a SLIGHTLY updated LWB Samurai here...
-
Shrockworks built the bumper and the rock sliders on the green one. I vote for the green one.

I'd probably wouldn't buy one simply because it's a rebadged Nissan and not a true Zuk, but at least it's got decent specs. I'd like to see a reg-cab short-box version...combine that with lockers, a lift, some tires and some sliders and you got yourself a good lil truck!
-
I like the quay(black one) Because it looks diffrent. I see most every one voted for the Olive one, but it looks JUST LIKE THE FRONTIER !!!! The Yellow one looks a lot like the frontier also, but that thing on the back of the cab makes it look the Avalanche, or Ridgeline, which I really dont care for. The olive one does look tough though, but it still says "Look at me, I am a tricked out frontier"
-
The quad cause it as good offroad as were likely to get, but....... I still want an XHEAD with a TD
-
I like the styling and simplicity of it. You could use it on/off road and still have it look decent enough to go out with the spouse. The OD green one is kinda cool if you like the para-military look or for hunting purposes. In my opinion, it's about time the made a p/u to fit into the market. Now if they would make one with a diesel motor they would probably sell like crazy, especially overseas.
-
I like the OLIVE .It looks 'bad' and nice without fancy...Like military car...just for 'bad' roads
On the other hand I would never buy a car like that....
WHY THEY DON'T MAKE A CAR LIKE SAMY OR VITARA. NOT ANOTHER SUV BUT A REALLY 4X4 FOR MOUNTAINS NOT FOR CITY!!
-
I love the look of those integrated roof light in the rack on the quad. If those bumpers are acutally as stout as they look there is no reason to swap them I can see, except maybe for a winch. A factory winch option on this model would be awesome. A modest lift and some under armor and it looks trail ready from the start.
Definetly the best looking truck I have seen in a long time and its not boat like. I may have to own a quad.
Does anyone know if the dealers would have better information on these then what is posted on the site or is it too soon?
-
I like the middle (Black with strips, trimmed out nicely) of the three mostly (towing the boat). I drive mostly streets and highways but do go off road on occasion. I travel with others and sometime take customers with me.
I really would want the 4-door version (crew cab?) with the leather trimmings of the "gentlemanly type", V6 4.0 liter, auto, power everything like my '06 Grand Vitara Premium.

Sure does look like a Nissan. I like the QUAD (Olive drab one), I think I'm more drawn to it because of the tires... bumper... lights.... rock sliders. If I were to pick out of the other two, only because that is how they would come from the dealer... it would be the yellow one. Looks like a mini Avalanche from the back. The black one reminds me of a Ford so thats a no go... LOL
-
I'm as big a Zuk nut as any of you....but I don't have any use for another SUV wannabe truck. Already got a 2000 Yellow Exterra and I haul stuff in a 74 4x4 F150/400ci. Both are gas guzzlers but serve a purpose. Being Army I like olive drab but that don't make it "TUFF". My 74 F150 ( no cup holders or blue tooth ) will still be hauling stuff years after all the trim falls off those "trucks".
Sorry for all the negativity but I don't get it ...probably too old
-
WHY THEY DON'T MAKE A CAR LIKE SAMY OR VITARA. NOT ANOTHER SUV BUT A REALLY 4X4 FOR MOUNTAINS NOT FOR CITY!!
Because the don't like us (Samurai owners), and don't want to build a true 4x4 that is closer to the roots of ASMC.
Too bad, as my next new auto purchase will be a Rubicon. At least ONE automaker actually cares enuff to build what I (and every other Suzuki off-roader) really want. ASMC can go in the toilet for all I care.
-
Stlye, bumber, roof lights, grill, but not the colour, AND NEEDS A DESIEL!!!!!
Like the Bright yellow but hate the "vinly's". Bright colours IN and OUTSIDE. Always liked the old Sammies and Sidekicks that had some of the outside paint on the inside.
Give me the Green one in the Yellow paint and interior (like the new Ford colours), with a Desiel that does not suck like when Jeep tried with the Liberty.
Got that Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc. Mid-size Pickup, Bright Colour, Crazy 4x4 to save $$ on aftermarket, AND A |removethispart|@$#&* DESIEL!!!! Got my credit card READY!!!!!!

Who needs a RE-BADGED anything? If SUZUKI brings something to the table, I'll look at it. Otherwise, why bother with something I can basicly allready buy?
???

X2 I just don't get why anyone would buy this instead of the Nissan. At least the Xhead concept was new and different.
Suzuki needs to go back to making small, fuel efficient, body-on-frame, convertible SUVs. Maybe even a real compact pickup...seeing that all the other manufacturers are making their compact pickups larger (mid-size) and less efficient.

Yeah what up with the mid-sized trucks.... what happened to mini pickups? In the 70's they were little.... but pretty gut less. Just think what they do now with today's technology and efficency.
-
hello big v6! I would go olive drab and lift it day1.
-

Exactly...there's no reason a (Nissan 720 sized) compact pickup couldn't get mpg in the high 30s or better with today's technology. Keep the weight low and the engine small (120 hp max). The only problem I can think of would be passing our current crash standards (but hey, they did it with the Smart car).
-
Yeah whatever happened to the mitsubishi mighty max too!
In my opinion I definately think the olive drab looks the best, the body is definately the same as the frontier, but theres nothin wrong with that, suzuki's version just looks better with that nasty grill and bumper. I do think my yellow 04 gixxer would look pretty fancy sitting in the bed of the rm-z version though.
Heres a comparison of the equator with a frontier pic I found on google..
-
I like the Green one. Looks more military. I do not like the yellow one.
