Title: How can I water proof the auto trans.
Post by: whitfield on February 11, 2008, 07:46:58 PM
I want to take my 4wd Tracker 95 16v Auto on a trail run but their are a few creek crossig that are known to run a little deep in the winter.  I'd drive somthing bigger but it is a 5 hr hwy round trip.

How can I preserve the auto trans?  Plum the vent line inside?  Where is the auto trans vented?  97 Jeep TJ auto trans vent is in the bell housing just above the main shaft and kills the trans about the time the hubs take a drink.

Any thing else I need to make water tight before my trip?

Vent is at the back of the engine by the bell housing, good for water up to the intake.
You might spray some silicone spray on the dizzy and grease the plug wires with dilectric grease
to prevent water grounding

Thanks Wild !!!   :D

Looks like I may be good to go, as I don't plan on getting water in the doors.
