Hi, there,
I am about to buy a used 89' suzuki vitara for very cheap price.
everything looks so great.
however, the odormeter indicates more than 350K.
so... that is just one thing I worry about.
please, would you show me whether or not I should buy this?
-
Well I would say if it is cheap enough and you are mechanically inclined and not affraid to replace or pay for something if it goes south. Go for it!
-
like armour said if you can work on it... then go for it. but with that many miles it will break down..... but they are alot of fun.........

I have to agree with the previous posters. If you have a mechanical inclination Sammi's are a breeze to work on. That being said, what do you intend to use it for. As a daily driver, you will probably work on it quite a bit. If you are building a trail rig, you are going to be working on it a lot anyways. It seems like every time I go out and play I get another idea on something to change. >:D
All in all they are a lot of fun.

Don't forget, with the 89 you have a chance of getting the 1.3l instead of the 1.6l. Fine for off-road, but a 20hp hit in the power department.
But you would get the ultra-low gears. :D

Thank a millone, you guys.
I think I'm gonna work on it which means I go for it!
Thanks a lot.

no not us... ::)

Something to consider: If the odometer says 350,000 miles (Did they have the extra digit in 89??) there is a good chance that the engine is a replacement (possibly multiple times) and a whole lot of mechanical items may have been replaced as well. I say base your decision on these possibilities although it's hard to tell what all was done at this point.

And some times we actually offer up something useful also. :laugh:
