Title: 8-valve to 16-valve swap?
Post by: longarch on February 17, 2008, 05:59:49 AM
I just purchased a '94 Tracker with a bad 1.6L 8-valve engine but has an extra engine to go with it.

The gentleman that I purchased it from bought a used engine for it about 6 months ago. The supplier for the used engine sent him a 1.6L 16-valve instead of the 8-valve. Is it posible to install the 16-valve? If so, what modifications must I make?

You will definately need a 16V computer and wireing harness (unless your good with wireing). I looked into it for my 89 a few years back (had a complete 98 16v sitting in the garage and I decided it would be easier to just pony up and buy another 8V motor...but if it;s not bolt on or cut off...I'm lost  :P
