I put a sidekick alt in mine, it tested out at 69 amps, if you put the gm one in just don't get it wet or muddy. the guys around here have taken them back out!

I've splashed tons of mud and water on my GM remy alt with no problems. I do use dilectric grease on all my connections though, maybe that helps? I also clean and inspect the engine compartment after every real muddy outing, taking care to clean any mud or debris from the alt, alt fan, belts, pullys, radiator and fan housing. Regular maintenance helps.

If you go with the big alt from a chevy beef up your bracket so that it does wobble side to side!!  And mine gives me fits when I use my winch or jump start someone!  Blows the 30 amp fuse!

I just did one on my DD and love it. Go with a 100 amp or smaller. I tried a 120 and it was just to big. Could have made it fit but no clearance once installed. I used one off of a 90 suburban .

Not much, 45 amps max so you know your getting less than that 90% of the time.

one of the best upgrades you will make I would run my kc lights and winch at the same time and it would nearly kill the motor not no more 105 amps 1 battery.

The stock Samurai alternator is rated at 35A, and the Trackkick around 55A.  If installing a larger alternator than the Trackkick, just remember to run a new, separate heavy alternator-to-battery charge wire (#6 or larger) directly to the battery (+), bypassing the now-too-small OEM fusible link. [You can simply tape off the old alternator wire, for later re-use if necessary.]  If you don't, you will be replacing the fusible link frequently. You could replace the fusible link with a fuse, if you prefer. But do NOT eliminate the fusible link (or fuse) entirely.  It protects against an electrical fire. Just one electrical fire could ruin your whole day. (http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn160/Merlin-93/FusibleLink.gif)
