What is the ideal offset ? Measured from where the rim bolt holes are on the inside of the rim out to the edge of the rim.I put a straight edge on the edge of the rim and measure in to the area where the hole are where it would sit against the rotor or brake drum.I'm putting in 2"spring spacers and 2" body lift .I can buy used jeep rims or ford rims but they all seem to be 4" back spacing so I'm contimplating ordering rims new with a 2',2.5" or 3" back spacing .What are you guys running and what do you recommend? If it's 4" I will just buy the jeep or ford rims ......let me know your thoughts or experience!
Thanks!

how wide are the wheels? mine are 15x8 with a 3.75 backspacing. they work great and they stick out a bit.

Sorry I'm putting on 31x10.5 BFG mud terrains on a 8" rim .I want to do it cheap I don't want to have a $1000 set of wheels on my tracker.I'm more comfortable with a $200 set!

well the 3.75 offset i've been happy with them...... check these out.

3.75" Like someone mentioned, it sticks out a little bit. But its all good.

with the 15x8 and the 3.75 ... with 31x10.50's you'll stick out bout and inch to inch and a half.
-
here's a wider set...

Does anyone know what the offset is for the stock jeep 1985/86 cj rims is? From my measurements the ford rims offset is 4".

Discount tire sells what you are looking for for $51 bucks a wheel: Unique 297

I was considering going with a 30" tire, but people are telling me to get a 31 because they are more common and if I blow one on the trail they are easier to find. Any thoughts on that?

Ok here is the deal I can get a black powder coated wheel with a 2.5",3" 3.5" 3.75" ...custom BS for $52 what back spacing would you choose if you had a choice? Would it be the 3.75" still if you could custom order them or would you go for a more dished wheel with less back spacing? They will be 31x10.5 BFGs on 8" rims what are your thoughts?

if you want to stick out a little bit ... go for 3.75

I run a 3" backspacing, as do the other two rigs in our club. It works well enough for 33" and 31" tires. :)

What do you mean good enough? I know there are issues with not enough back spacing what are the issues with too much?I was thinking the back spacing would keep the tire off the frame .But I supose that to much will make the tire go up and hit the raer fenders on flex or the rear of the front on flex and turn??? What's ideal??
-
I run a 2" spacer lift with 31s, and I have a set of 8" ford rims with 4" of BS. It works great, I have maybe 1/2" of tread sticking out past the fender. This backspacing seems to work well. when I'm out on the trails and stuff a rear wheel, it can tuck up into the fender. Although, I plan to go to a 3.5 or 3" BS when I put on my body lift and 32s.
I would love to run 3.25 BS, but I'm having trouble finding them anywhere for sale. I have seen them a few times, but now that I'm looking, I can't run across a set.

How much back spacing before a 31x10.5 tire won't stuff up in the fenders when it aticulated? 2" body lift 2" spring spacer??
-
3.75 is what you want
-
The main problem with to much backspacing is you will start rubbing the back of your fender wells when turning. Remember, while you are moving the inside of the tire away from the frame you are pushing the outside edge of the tire further out at the same time.
You might want to turn your tires at full lock and see how much clearance you have to the back side of your wheel wells.

200 pages into the archives, and I have a question.
Is a four inch backspacing too much for a 4dr sidekick on 30x10s with a 3inch suspension lift?
