Hello my name is Bill . I have a 95 4door sidekick jlx 16 valve auto transmission . I have recently lost most of my throttle responds .I have done everything i know to do. I have changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel and air filters still my problem has not gotten any better in fact it is probably worst. The local autozone said they can not read codes because it is a 95 not a 96. I would really appreciate some advice Thanks Bill

Do some reading on here, you just need a paper clip to read the codes, your prob could be lots of things like your maf sensor, o2 sensor, clogged cat, temp sensor, ect.

Thanks man

Do you have a harbor freight or some sort of discount tool store? I picked up an OBD 2 for cheap ($40) and it's just a plug and play. Reads and deciphers all codes. (I've got a persistent EGR valve reading). Constant service light type thing. Anyways, that might help you solve your problem that "Autozone" can't fix.

will an OBD 2 read codes on a 95 i thought it had to be a 96 or newer

No, you are right. 95 and newer would use an OBD 1. 96 and newer an OBD 2. You can still find OBD 1 on the cheap. Prolly would help read codes.

u mean 95 and older is obd and 96 and newer is obd2 ;) but this is not always true because some 95's can be obd2 i would check before purchaseing a reader

how do you tell if a 95 is obd or obd 2

under the hood most likely on the shock tower it should say its prolly obd 1 tho
