Title: Worst of the worst---windshield wiper problems
Post by: thedeep on March 02, 2008, 11:32:17 AM
Driver's side wiper cuts about a 6" swath...weakly. I have both Chilton and Haynes--neither even mentions the stuff up under the dash--no drawing, no nothing.
I've got the dash loosened up. Pulled the wiper motor. The problem seems to be just on the driver's side. Passenger's wiper works fine. I'm beginning to think there is no pulling the assembly out of here, is there? None of the plastic grommets look, what I would call, good. But, only the driver's side is not working.
Any ideas? I'm about ready to cut the damned thing out with a saw. Where the heck do you get those parts, anyway?
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr, that's me venting.
Thanks.

pull the whole windshield frame off.......

then, you can access the rods and arms of the wiper system,

then you email - suzukijohn|removethispart|@aol.com

How hard would it be to just convert it to a right hand drive?....... sorry I couldn't resist.

It may end up righthand drive, at that. It is a hardtop, so...I don't think I can pull the windshield frame, can I?

try moving the wiper that is not moving see if it moves without the shaft if so the teeth are stripped and u will prolly need a neww wipre arm and if the shaft moves with it then check if when u move it a bit if the otherside moves if not then it is prolly the linkages

Well, finally got it all out. Bad bushings. Got a set of shafts, bushings, etc, from Hawk. Got it all assembled today. Ran it a few times before putting the wipers on. Put a wiper on, turned it on--crash down into the hood. It wants to go left before it goes right. I assume it's a timing issue with the motor and the arms. Anyone know how to set the wipers up? Thanks.

im not sure but i would think u would just pull the arms off turn on the ignition so the studs are in the down position then put the wiper arms where they belong
