Howdy! I just signed up and don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I have been a Samurai owner since '92. Had a '86 with the removable hardtop, liked that so much I replaced it with an '88 hardtop. The '86 was much more civilized than the tin can is but I had nothing but problems with emissions here in Washington state.
Now, to my first question for all you Suzuki masters. My '88's carburetor has finally gone south in a big way. The only intake mods to speak of is the addition of that little venturi that did smooth things out and a K&N filter. Should I have a rebuild done, do it myself or get the Webber? I have to pass emissions for a few more years here in Wa.
                                                                                   Thanks all!

88,
My carburetor went south also on my 86... I ended up buying a 32/36 Weber for it. The difference in performance is night and day. The stock Hitachi is very complex and not very easy to rebuild and very expensive as a rebuilt item. I also live in Washington but we have no smog inspections in my County. unfortunately I think you are stuck with having to stay with the stock carb for passing the emissions inspections. I still do have my old Hitachi should you need any parts.
