I found a 1.3L twin cam, the guy said it had already swapped into and out of a Samurai. He said it goes right in and bolts right up. Is this correct? Anybody else do it? My arcihive search barely touches this and it was a long time ago. Is this too much of a "revver" not a "tourquer". He says it make over 100HP? Any ideas / help on this subject would be appreciated. I have a "90" Sammy with a great body and mild susp mods that rides and handles awesome. It was my DD last year BUT it burns oil too fast and the EFI is 1st gen. and has lots of flaws and ion fact wont run at all now. Is it worth the $Grand?.

The twin cam bolts up but there is an issue with the distributor fouling the bulkhead on a Sammy. Ask him how this has been solved. It makes around 100bhp and it is a revver.

Anybody else ever had a swift motor in a Sammy. It sounds like I should do it. I really dont want to dive in if I cant handle it.

it is a revvy motor I had a swift gt and drove a samurai with one. the only way they work is to rev the snot out of them! A very bullitproof motor though. If I could find a gt cheap enough I would swap one into my sammy.

Thanks guys, A friend here in Massachusetts says the same as you guys with a different conclusion. He says great motor. need to rev it alot and the swap puts the distibutor up into the firewall/bulkhead.
For my abilities no worth it but with the right gearing/transfer case could be a winner.

Another more radical way I've seen it done is to just cut a hole in the firewall. :)

That is what everyone says but how radical a chunk would have to come out. Would it be noticeble externally?

Would a body lift rectify the cutting of the firewall to fit the distributor?

no the dist faces the firewall its not turned 90 deg. like a sammy dist. so the plug wires are right into the firewall. I seem to remember an adapter that worked a long time ago.

or you relocate one of the engine mont on the frame. or a mazda cap the wire gos on the side i'm not shure if it a 323 4x4
