Just wondering if any of you out there with a 99 or up Tracker Vitara had any problems with the plastic pieces inside their rigs. I went to drop my son off to school and when I went to open the door the door handle snapped off in my hand, now I can't open the door from the inside. >:( Oh well, I'll be paying a visit to my local friendly Chevrolet parts dealer to order one, just wondering if any of you have the same problem, also the mouldings on the floor where you step in crack and break easy too. Oh well, this is nothing serious, just not too happy with it only having 52,000 miles and 4 years on it and these silly little things are going wrong with it. Thanks, Dave ::)

I have had that happen on my 89. The plastic wont hold up to a hard pull. Mine happned after I noticed someone trying to climb out of the back of the Kick was pulling on the handle with the door locked. I guess they thought it would unlock it like some vehicles, so the pulled harder. Well they pulled to hard, a few weeks later it broke off in my hand.
Give Hawk Strictly Suzuki a call at 1-888-SAMURAI, they will be able to ship one out to you today ALOT cheaper than the Chevy dealer.

I had the inside passenger handle break on my '90 a couple of years ago. eBay is a pretty good source for some of these parts.

Doesn't Hawk Suzuki have the metal replacement handles?
-
They do for the Sami, but I'm not sure about the Kicks and Vitaras :-/

;DCool, metal replacement handles????? Gotta have those, but if not , at least I know of an alternative to the dealer, which probably wants an arm and a leg, or perhaps just an arm, it is kinda of a small part you know ::)Thanks guys. (ps. I'm really not mad about this even though I hit the mad smiley face, just kind of happened). Actually come to think of it, I've had my Tracker for a year and a half and this is the first thing to break on me, well, other than the plastic rocker moulding that go inside the the kids literally tromp on, on their way getting in and out every time. :P Kids are destructive don't ya know. Thanks again, Dave ;D

15 years, 273,000 miles and
no broken plastic handles, only
the curved plastics at the back
for the convertable top, wish those
came in metal

No broken handles... I'm pretty easy on the handles, and make sure that the latches are lubed and open nicely.
Having a rig that scares everyone but the extremely brave to copilot helps out, too ;D

13 years 110K and Four Wheelers have nothing on me for use and abuse, NO Garage or car ports.
1 broken peace of plastic that's not rock or vehicle colission induced. that dang little peace the strap attaches to for the soft top sun roof thingy.
