I saw a set of these for sale down at the Swap meet for a quad. I was positive I could get them to mount up. :)

I think I need to build me some tracks

i saw a show a while back with tracks mounted on all kinds of trucks, pretty damn cool. would have been useful in ottawa this winter......

I was wondering how those would do in Moab last night when I saw the videos.
-
Check those 2..
-
man i really need to build me some of those ... i dont think it would be too hard to manufacture but the design may be a little difficult ... but tracks would be awesome in the snow and in the clay up here in northern ontario
-
Who makes snowtrack. I want one :)

I was thinking the opposite. :)
Tell you what, I'll draw them up and you fabricate a set for both of us! ;D
The two post by MaD.72 looks like the roller braces stick out too far on the sides (though I'd still give them a try!) I like these a little better...

I want a set for sure! Do you have to fabricate them or is there a kit you could buy. On a lighter note an automatic would probably work better huh.

There's always a kit to buy!
...But redneck is always better! ::)

pepatt is that your white tracker on tracks????
if it is how does it handle in the corners ... the guys in the origional videos for the topic looked like they hard a real hard time turning. i thought with a wheel spacer and maybe a little bit of a narower track it may just turn a bit tighter but if i make a set im really gonna put some serious R&D into them to try to get the turning radius down but at the same time still have the floatation of the wide track

Naw, just a pic I found. It doesn't snow enough in Ohio to make it worth putting tracks on (it just gets annoyingly cold). Kinda like owning a snow mobil for two days a year! ::)

I think that's just the nature of the beast. You get a track three feet long and you're going to reduce turning radius. I think it would be hard to overcome this obstacle. My guess is that you have to have the tracks spinning and kind of slide them to turn, otherwise you'd blowup your PS pump. This is probably your main slowdown in turning. But hey, you're moving through three feet of snow... so who's bitchin? :P

Used tracks are $5500? ??? Ouch!
They look fun, but not THAT fun!
-
New, they are like 6k plus I think....
-
I'd heard these can be adapted ...

Not as strong as the mattracks, but much cheaper too.

I hear the spare is a real bear to deal with! ;)
