So my mileage was cut in half after my exhaust accident, and I found I have a clogged cat. How do I clean it out? Or do I have to get a new one??

I think I have heard of additives that are supposed to help clean a CC; but a completely clogged one :-/
I would replace it with a nice hi-flow CC.

JC Whitney has some for 65 bucks.

Gut it if you don't have emissions. Save some money. ;)

make sure that you wear a mask if you do that stuff is radio active (no kidding) you have to have a receipt from a licensed contractor to get rid of one here in the states ???
-
take it off and weld in some pipe.

Isn't it made of Paladium ???
or was it Plutonium

any time something goes booom it causes radio activity, so even your used motor oil has some :-/

HowStuffWorks is a cool Website.
I thought I heard they used Platinum (hence the high cost), but according to HSW...
The converter uses two different types of catalysts, a reduction catalyst and an oxidization catalyst. Both types consist of a ceramic structure coated with a metal catalyst, usually platinum, rhodium and/or palladium.
They have an interesting article on their site stating that while CCs do help reduce smog, they might actually be increasing the "greenhouse effect". Hmmm... try to fix one thing (smog), break another (global warming); sounds like me working on a car :-/

rip it out and throw in some pipe, done that to all my trucks, I cant stand cc's
-
If I ask my local pipe dealer (not that kind of pipe dealer!!) to take it out, will he?? Or is he bound by some legal bullpoop not to? I'm in Canada by the way...

On the island there arent any aircare laws so you dont need a CC by law.
In Vancouver though, I know that you need one by law.
I've seen some peeps that have hogged (drilled) their CC's out so it’s just a hollow shell. That way the Law enforcers still think there’s a CC on the truck, when in reality its just acting like a pipe. ;D
If you don’t want to do that then all you need is a piece of tube that matches your exhaust size, then get a friend or someone to weld it in for you.
If they aren’t keen on doing it for you, buy them a six pack and usually they'll change their mind. :P
-
Oh and before you jump the gun and do this, take to mind that removing the CC from your vehicle will effect your vehicles emission discharge.
So passing aircare might become more difficult.
-
Yeah, I don't think aircare is a big concern here in hick town!

Save it, but put in a piece of pipe for now. When your next emision test comes up throw it back in for the test. If it clogged it'll pass by a mile ;D as long as it still will run ;)

How did you know when the Cat is clogged? (Other than running bad?)
-
You could just give you Cat a Kitty laxative to unclog it ;D
