Changeing my timeing belt this weekend and I got talked into doind the water pump while it is apart. Anything I should be looking for?
-
As you take it all apart and get ready to remove all the bolts for the water pump it's self... the one bolt on the furthest left as you straight at it is very well known to get corroded and sieze into the engine block or the pump housing and will snap off... Get yer drill n taps out just in case it does.
While yer in there ya may as well change the crank seal... ($5) the front can seal... ($5) and the timing belt and tensioner pully as well... (bout $30 for bother pending on parts supplier)
It's just piece of mind so that ya don't have to take it apart again.
Your gonna have to remove the timing belt anyways...

I'm doing the timeing belt and water pump this weekend. That oil seal look like it might be more then I want to get into. It looks like I have to remove the oil pump to get at it. Not sure I want to mess with that.

not the pump but the big bolt on the crank and the cog that turns the belt, mine only leaked when it was real cold like 25 deg. or colder but I changed it anyway.

I'll look in the manual but are these seals behind the crank and the cog with the belt guide? If so what part am I asking for?

Yes just ask for two cam seals if it is a 16 valve, I think mine were the same seal.
