Ok, today I thought I would tackle my body lift on my 92 sidekick. I got pretty deep and then found that many of the body mounts were rotted out and basically shut that idea down. Right now I have a 2" coil spacer lift on and my 31" tsl's will fit and there is some room but rub too much on a stuff. It needs the body lift to make that a successful deal. So I am basically fed up with dealing with rust and rot and I am thinking here in the midwest that is probably all I am gonna get out of any older series trackicks here. So I am thinking about selling off and maybe getting something newer and maybe having a better shot. I really don't know anything about the newer ones and the whole point is to get my 31" tires under one. Can you still do the simple coilspacer lift on them and is fender trimming necessary on these? If I spend some money on a newer one I won't be so eager to chop it up. I am not looking to get real wild but do want to hit some trails. I will also want some locker options (i won't be able to afford arb's). Do they make a rear mini spool for these? Anyone want to chime in with their setup that would be great.

Looks like the mini spool fits up to 2000 according to what I found on RRO website...

You will need 4" of lift to fit 31's under a Trackick w/o any fender trimming. Rocky Road do make a 4.5" lift for the newer trucks. Check their site out to get some ideas. I had a 99 Tracker for a few years but never got around to lifting it. I really liked it and the extra power of the 2.0lt was nice. The only thing I would say is go with a 5 spd.

I had a '96 when I bought my '03 new (after they announced it was the last year for the convertibles).
The '03 is MUCH quieter and more comfortable inside, and the 2.0 handled my 29" tires way better then the '96 truck did. There's also slightly more cargo room (I can only speak for the 2-doors). As far as lifting is concerned, pretty much anything you could do to the earlier version can be done for the newer.
There still seems to be a wider variety of aftermarket options for track/kicks, but more has been emerging for track/vits lately as they've gotten older.
As a daily driver, there was no comparison between the '96 and '03, and you'll really appreciate that extra 30+ hp. A lot. Especially if you're upsizing the rubber.
