I have a 98 4 wheel drive, which I need to replace the passenger side ball joint. What is my easiest method? It looks like the half-shaft is in the way of removing it. Do I have to remove the wheel hub to get the half-shaft out of the way? Or is there an easy method?????????
Thanks in advance, Luke

Yes you will need to pull out the hub assy to get the ball joint out. What I did was removed the brakes and unbolted the hub from the strut to tilt the hub assy out far enough to remove the cv shaft from the hub. Don't forget to support the bottom of the control arm before pulling it all apart. When I put the new ball joint back in I installed the bolts in from the bottom of the ball joint with the nuts on top. Now I can change the ball joint without removing the cv shaft.
