its a 93, 4x4, automatic... and its pink...
anyways, all my friends are like, dude, paint it
but i think it'd be beter to leave it pink and just put a lift on it.
i dont really needa take the thing off road, but it'd be nice. I'm kinda straped for cash too. ÂÂ
I was thinkin of puttin a 2'' suspension lift on it or maybe a 3'' body lift, or maybe both, but i already feel like im gonna tip over when im takin corners i dont know if i really want all that extra height...  And i cant afford new tires right now so im gonna stik with stock.  any suggestions?

-
I have a 2 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift. Ditch the decal and it would be bitchin...
-
hah yeah... the decals a little weird...
but how difficult is installing those lifts? and hows the ride? i was lookin at the calmini products.
-
Lift is easy, the 2 inch kit is easier than the 3 inch. The ride is a little worse than stock but not much.
-
Leave it pink, put a Barbie sticker in the window, lift it, 33's and thrash the hell out of it... give 'er a good bit of trail rash ;D
-
Dents add character!!
-
You having a Pink Tracker does not bother me, But you advertising and talking it up, That bothers me... ÂÂ
just kidding, Their used to be a certin Pink sammy at Zuki Melt that was awsome.  Best part was (Timmy ~Gotta say it like they do on South park) the guy who was doing the work painted it pink with out the owner (Ranger Rick) knowing.  He came to get it and  "Dude that's not my Zuke"   no You don't understand mine's not pink" ...  No that IS my Zuke!!!   Uggggg $%^&
;D
It was a cool joke.  He kept it Pink as far as i know. ÂÂ
-
haha i see...
well i'm probably gonna get the tires last... should i get the lifts at the same time or sepratly?
-
I mean my kick isn't exactly a manly color, but if someone painted it pink as a joke i think i'd be pissed
-
the pink doesn't really bother me, but it just really looks like a chicks car right now...
-
Do it a tthe same time, bust it all out in a weekend
Thats what i did, I have only a grand into mine.
-
I mean my kick isn't exactly a manly color, but if someone painted it pink as a joke i think i'd be pissed
If anyone painted my trucklet any color, joke or not, I'd stomp the hell out of them.
*cue Pulp Fiction car dialogue ;D
-
Never saw pulp fiction....i hear its a good flick ::)
-
Man who gives a rats ass if it is pink, it's not about the colour it's all about the shit underneath! Take off that Geo symbol and put some pimp ass logo on there and a flamethrower exhaust HAHAHA!
Actually has anyone ever put a flamethrower on their vehicle? Even though it is 110% illegal?
Just get your lift (combo lift) and then get your tires. Maybe get a bumper sticker that says "Pink is the Shit!"
-
Never saw pulp fiction....i hear its a good flick ::)
dood! rent it! It's one of my favorite movies evar!
-
K dood, I'll beez rentin dat shizit yo. :P
-
Like the other guys said...lose the decal...other than that I'd leave it until I could afford a suspension lift and tires...I put my tires on before the lift and wasn't too happy with the amount of rubbing.

yeah im gonna lose that thing, any tips on getting it off?
and that trackers pretty cool, but its only got the body lift, should i go for both lifts? and im only gonna do the 2'' suspension if i do get that.
-
Paint it, paint it, paint it!!! Take the money you were thinking of paying Calmini and get a cheap paint job. Then just do the budget 2" body lift, add some jeep coil spacers for around $40-$80 bucks and tires. As a girl, I'd look at any guy funny if he drove a pink car!
-
yeah im gonna lose that thing, any tips on getting it off?
I had a pink stripe on my samurai and used a little stripe removal wheel on a drill to get it off. The wheel looks kinda like an inline skate wheel and is used in body shops to take off stripes..the guy I got it from actually uses it to strip stripes off decomissioned cop cars.
It works great, kinda by creating heat and melting the sticker off. It leaves a little residue which you can then wipe off with a strong solvent.
You can probably get one of these wheels at a place that sells body shop supplies.
~daxe
-
aha thanks.
and last question
does anyone know the maine state laws for what you can do to your car, cause i know they were kinda strict...
-
2 ideas:
take all the trim and canvass off and sand it yourself then take it to a spray shop and get it painted cheap. Probable under $200-300.
Hand spray paint it yourself with spray cans (called rattle can paint job) in a tan/green camo look to give it a sand desert militray look like the HUMVEES, then make a decal that says HUMVEE RESCUE VEHICLE on the side !!! You cant make a mistake in multi color camo and if it peels or anything just spray again in a different color. Leave one little spot pink just to make people ask. . .
Go for it and have fun. . .
-
Or you could just leave it pink, who cares what other people think ;) Build the hell out of it and then go hit some trails. I would love to hear some camp fire stories about how somebodys jeep on 37's got showed up by a pink tracker ;D
Zig
-
My old tracker got BEAT. We tiped jumped and reved it to death. I miss it bad and the color made belonging to michigan jeepers(a club) even better. It had a emu lift and some mickeys but was great on the road and off road. It made jeepers with with 35 stop and think :o. I MISS MY TRACKER :'(

Hey I like that color, pull the graphics off and get the backside lettered with (P*ssy Puller) on it . And work the engine over further down the line. Mean time keep 'em guessing. ;D
-
i like the idea of lifting it and putting a sticker on it that says "pink is the Sh!t"
now that is an awesome idea.
-
Or "I'm always in the Pink" ;D ::) ;D

azrocktrash,
A friend of your's had a Calmini lift with alignment problems?
The OME lift does nothing to address alignment problems. At least Calmini makes the control arms longer to take care of camber.
May I ask what type of problems your friend was having?

It's possible that he had the same problem with the Calmini lift that ProjectTwin did, in that you have to do an alignment yourself if you want to drive it to the alignment shop... :-/
Calmini lifts would seem to have less alignment issues than RRO lifts, since the ones RRO sells use spacers that screw up the camber...
-
1st call it "a strange shade of purple"
2nd body lifts not so bad on cornering since all the heavy stuff like motor, tranny and axles didn't move up, only the light stuff like the body work did.

RRO uses springs and spacers...and yes your camber will be out unless you use camber bolts to correct. My camber bolts are set to max offset and the camber is bang on spec. I believe that the Calmini kit is the better system in regards to toughness and flex...possibly ride...But in my case I think the RRO lift will work out the best for me. If I was to build a rig that was more oriented to off-road I would definitely go with the Calmini 3+3 with many of the Hagen mods :)

i've been calling it magenta.... rasberry's a little beter too... but yeah i thinik now im just gonna get the 2'' suspension and 3'' body lifts once i get enough cash. thanks for the tips. and im glad to see theres another guy who had a pink tracker!

Pulp Fiction is one of the best movies of all time.
Dude, just get it repainted. These days it don't cost all that much.

i know painting its cheaper but i'd like to put a couple mods into it.
-
My alignment was waaaaaaaaaay out. I did an alignment, and they drove it in the shop put it on the rack and said they coudln't do any better than it was. So I guess the old tape measure thing works lol
-
az,
sorry your friend had a bad time with his lift. I'm glad he likes his OME lift.
mytrackerispink,

I think GM calls the color magenta. ;D

technicaly its mystic magenta metalic.... somehow pink sounds beter....

Ah...who cares! It kicks ass either way.

When you said pink, I thought you meant Barbie truck pink. (Isn't that color called Cranberry?)

well the first thing i hear when people see it is wow its pink... and one time im driving though town and stoped at a cross walk and this 4 year old kids like hey mom look a pink car. soooo...

Its not pink, its off red. :D

Or grab some cans of primer and camoflage the critter. Maybe even whack it a few times with a tire iron, just to give it that rugged look. ;D

I'll have to get a copy of that movie.
I think I like your "pink" better'n the purple car we painted. The customer had a '67 ('66?) Impala w/ red interior... and he had us paint it metalic grape.
-
did i mention my seats are striped pink? lol. actually i think its a lot cooler from the inside.

Mike you should be ashamed of your self! letting you sis or wife(???) wheel an almost stock tracker! :D ;D

I can only do so much without $$$$$$$$$$. :-/ My sister is on a tight budget but she is a great driver so its impressive anyway. Durring the winter event she was really spanking all kinds of rigs bad! That thing was relentless. Ive asked people how the did today on the trails and a common reply is that they got their ass kicked by a girl driving a pink tracker! ::) She leads trail rides at our events a lot. Not once has that rig broken while leading a ride. Twice she has Exploded the front diff on RPM runs.

HOLY SHIT DUDE :o My emu kitt never did that. You need to invest in some camber bolts.

The camber was fine, That was just toe in, adjusted it with some wrenches and its fine.

Dude, I STILL have issues with that movie.
-
OK can't resist this topic..
I think you should put "Pussy Wagon" on the back of it like the truck in Kill Bill.. Maybe in ghost letters so you have to kind of look for it. Some racing strips up the hood would be a nice touch...
Ah the factory pin strip logo deal has uhhh got to go!
I have Jade Green tracker,, It's not the most manly thing either but who cares that's half the fun.
You should defintily build it. Build it big and mean and then threaten all those punks in the lowered civics that you'll park on the hood of their car if they act up!
-
lol i tried taking that stripe off tonight, i spent like 20 minutes on 3 inches of strip, then the hair dry shot out sparks and died... so now i need a new hair dryer before i do the rest of it... it really does not like to peal off.
-
An actual heat gun would probably work better ;)
-
hmm yes... i noticed that the hair dryer kept going from warm to cold air for no reason so i smacked it on th ground... then it just got really really really hot, shot out sparks and died. so sad.
-
Duct tape?
-
whats the best way to remove decals actualy? heat gun or rubber eraser wheel?
-
What's a rubber eraser wheel?
We used the decal remover liquid... 15 years ago... and it took time. The last one I removed, I used a razor blade to get the edge started, then carefully peeled it away.
-
Best time to pull of thoise stickers is in the summer time. Just leave th Tracker out in the Sun for a while till it gets the tin hot and just pic off the sticker nice and slow.
Thats how I got my Pink Tracker stickers off ;D
-
Yeah, I just heated it up with a blow dryer and peeled it off with my finger nail. The pink stripe had to go! All you have to do is buff it a little after you peel it off. Depending how good of shape the striping is, it should peel and touch up really nice.
steveo
-
Build it Tall with Big Bad Tires, and
a mean front bumper, nobody will
think it's "pink" anymore, they will
just think about how aggressive it
looks.
I love driving next to full size Trucks,
and I'm as tall or taller than them ;D
Then you got to watch out backing up,
Ricers become speed bumps and disappear
behind the 33" Tire hanging on the back for
your spare, then there is always your
head lights shining right into the mirror
of that ricer, or even a regular car that
you just pulled up behind ;)
Go Calmini 3+3, don't worry, you won't flip
over, I don't care what CU or anyone else says

My Sidekick must have been one of the few that came out of CAMI with no decals what so ever. In fact I added some about 2 years ago to it because it looked too plain. They were just small "4x4" decals I put near the rear side markers.
-
Hehe, mine didn't have girly decals... just said "Tracker" on the bottom of the doors in bright green... those got peeled off as soon as I got it home, though ;)
Also, both my red Trackers have no decals at all :-/
-
Mine had these ugly decals when I bought it:
I think it looks MUCH better without the decals ;D
(http://www.eye-irritant.com/august2004/susp_lift_side_2.JPG)
-
wow that is a lot better, i needa get that heat gun, or another hair dryer
-
alright i bought the hair dryer, and all the decals come off really easy i got a whole side done cept for this one strip. i dont know why but its made out of a different material and it keeps breaking right after i start pulling, i cant get it started and pull the whole thing. i spent like 20 minutes peeling that one strip about 2 inches cause it keeps breaking. i dont know whats up with it.
-
Hey Man,
What the hell difference does color make? Real men don't sweat the small stuff and, they wear and drive whatever they want to. If someone doesn't like it, too damned bad!
I'm evidentally a whole lot older than you are and I happen to like pink shirts so I wear pink shirts whenever I feel like it.
One night at a social gathering, (the kind where they serve white wine in tiny glasses and funny little cream cheese and caviar sandwiches) some gal said something to me about my pink shirt. I told her I liked pink because it made me think of naked female flesh.
She sniffed, turned up her nose and walked off. Made no difference to me, I wasn't in the market for anything anyway. The next morning she called the hostess and asked if "that fascinating man in the pink shirt with the pony tail is married".
I told the hostess to tell her I am (married), and I don't play around, but if I did it wouldn't be with a woman who cared what color shirt I wore.
Why waste money on a paint job? Put the money where it will do something worthwhile - like increase performance. If there is anything left over, spend it on a Kentucky breakfast (That's a bottle of bourbon, a two pound steak and a bulldog. The bulldog is there to eat the steak).

-
i know i already said im not painting it lol! right now i'd really like to find a way to take this decal off cause he blowdryer/fingernail technique aint cuttin it.
-
ok all of the decals are off cept the tracker logos that i like, and this one strip that wont come off. i got all of one side done, but on the other side on the bottem is this transparent strip and its al cracked and stuff so every time you try to peal it it rips off at each crack so you cant preal it you just hve to pick at it and it takes FOREVER.
-
Any Napa should have a sticker eraser that goes into a drill. They work great. Cracked or not it will come right off and does not effect paint at all.
Mike

Pink Tracker? So, what! I have a purple X-90 and I'm not even gay!

Just put a mural of Clint Eastwood circa "Pink Cadillac" on the hood, that's about the only way a pink car gets manly. Lifting it TO THE MOON! or stuffing unnecessarily large tires under it would really complete the pink joke too!
-
Another thing that might help is a
real pic of you wheeling, instead of
that super imposed avitar :P

haha i dont have a camera i stole the pic of my car from the dealers website and i thought it'd look nicer in a different setting...

have a digital CD made at the same
time and post the pics
If Walgreens can't do it, I know
somebody out there does this that
has Kodac Processing

-
Hey HUPPO. whats the chassis and where did you find that little Tracker?
The chassis is from a Tamiya Wild Dagger. The Tracker I got at a tag sale done by my daughter's brownie troop. (those are her Barbies, too) I paid 2$ for it. It's actually a cassette player! You load the cassette into the back end of the truck and there's a speaker on the bottom. I can't find any info or original source for the thing and i have never seen another.
I haven't gotten around to actually mounting the body. I plan to take the grille and some other stuff off the 'chassis' part and attach them to the body so it doesn't look so gutted, and hopefully PAINT the freakin thing! It's bad enough my real world tracker is purple. :P
Where did that little tracker body you have come from?

Got it on my 66 Riviera. Its not legal in Tx to use on the streets.

I don't imagine the flamethower would work to well on an injected vehicle....unless of course you ran an injector after the muffler....

I would love to find a tracker body for my brushless-powered Traxxas Stampede, or better yet my Emaxx-based crawler! LOL!
Keith, I like the new paint, but I liked the old paint even better! I have basically the same exact Tracker you do(90) except mine came from the factory silver. I guess I've just never seen a reason to paint it yet. What tires are you running now? Looks like M/T's but what size and brand?
mytrackerispink: Just break out some black duct tape and give your tracker some angry eyebrows! LOL

In that picture the blue didn't look bad, but it had odd striping on the other side. Plus it had bondo patches that weren't painted a matching shade of blue. The green paint it easy to touch up when I get it scratched. The tires are Hi-Tech Retreads. I have had them four 4 months and 2000 miles. I am very happy with them. I will get to go wheeling again with them tomorrow. It has been raining here so it will be interesting to see how they do.

To add, Keith's tires are 235/75/15.
