Umm... hose off your brakes really good? Sounds like you've got some junk rubbing on something :-/

The self adjusters some times break and will hit the inside of the brake drum!

Check your rear brakes. I had a spring come off once (the hook on the end pretty much straightened out) and the shoes were clacking against the drum.

Does this sort of thing happen often?  I have never heard these symptoms before coming from my Sidekick...to be honest, I have never had my rear brakes ever changed either.  The last time I checked, about 2 or 3 years ago there were still about 60% good.  :o

When I bought mine its rear brakes were at 60%, two years and 100K later they are still at 60%...I put on new rotors and they have been turned 3 times since then...just replaced them a couple of weeks back

Well at least it aint just me with that problem. I've replaced the front twice in 5years and just the rear last weekend and they showed hardly any ware ???
Auto adjuster my A-S.
When I go Yota axles, I'm going to all disk brakes.
I'm about this close  to starting it.

My brakes, flat out SUCK! Seems like you put the pedal to the floor before you get any brake then you give it all you can to stop it. I don't think my rear brakes work well at all, if at all.

I have a good set of rotors for the rear disk mod...could be a springtime project if I can get my hands on a set of Saturn rear calipers...I wouldn't mind getting the 4dr Kick rotors and calipers up front either  ;)

I wish my rear brakes lasted that long.  I end up in a lot of mud.  So I go through a set of shoes in less that a year.

Also, when I had to do a front brake job I had to replace both front calipers.  Mud got behind the seals and rusted the pistons.

Good thing Auto Zone has life time on all those parts!

That's what happens when the rear
shoes are worn, or don't adjust

Now go forth and fix your brakes  :o

You need to really
