Title: Building a swing away Tire mount
Post by: bentparts on April 27, 2008, 04:28:03 PM
Has anyone built a bumper mounted, swing away spare tire mount for their Trackick? I'd like to build one for my Trail Tough rear bumper, and am trying to find out what was used for the pivot hinge, and where to get it. Any Ideas?

Wow $$$

Trailer stub and hub  ;)  Cheap, readily available, has grease nipples, plenty of meat to weld, etc.

I actually bought a whole swing away rack locally for $30 and thought it would save me some effort ... turned out it was from a hummer H2 (read way to friggin' heavy!!) so I sold it on ebay for $210 ... now I will go buy a trailer hub.

Great suggestions both. I must have looked at 25 websites looking for parts, and never found anything like this Ryan. That will certainly work !  I'll also look at the trailer hub thing too, Thanks Guys!

Actually, I looked at trailer parts, and by the time you add up the cost of the bearings, races, stub and whatnot It's just about as expensive as the kit. Wiath athe kit, it's all together, and you get the housing for the bearings. I ordered it from EMS. Thanks Hodge!
