Title: diff locks
Post by: Rhinoman on October 14, 2004, 09:17:41 AM
I saw this on a UK board:

There is an American Mazda which came with 4WD as standard. The rear diff had a cable lock on it, these are a straight swap for the 413 diffs. Replacements are $112US and they are very strong indeed.

Anyone heard of this?

Clarification:

I've also heard of 413..

is this what the sidekick diff is technically?

I'm confused.

Nope,

that's a car that looks like a Sammy but with less wide axles and some other things that are different, like the dash and stuff.
I don't know if they were called otherwise in the US or that they never got to there.

The SJ413 was an earlier version of the Samurai which was also an SJ413, it a bit confusing but the SJ413 and Sammi diffs are interchangeable. I have seen German 410s with cable lockers but those were just for parking. I know a few years back there was a tie up between Mazda and Suzuki cos Suzuki used Mazda engines in some models.
