Title: Help 90 tracker lost all power.
Post by: R4ped_4pe on May 04, 2008, 11:00:49 AM
Hey guys, I need some help with my 90 tracker. I was driving on a road trip, and my tracker started losing LOTS of power. If I floored it it would only do 50 mph. It feels like no spark. NEW cap rotor wires and plugs fuel filter. I dont know what it is??? Maybe bad distributor? Bad ECU? Please start fireing away with what may be wrong. It is idleing fine, and the cel is on.

Bad catalytic converter? When it loses power, does it seem to get quieter? Sounds like a clogged cat to me...

Its power loss is across the board. It feels like I have about 30 hp. And It was surrging before it lost power. Its the same if Im running full out or just going slow( both equate to the same speeds).

Ok I got a Big hammer out and beat the poop out of my catylitic converter, And now I have my power back, although it is still surging a little. Thanks To DIGGER. I appreciate your time. Thanks to everyone else. That just saved my stimulus check.

Glad to help, although inside the cat is a honeycomb like structure that the exhaust gasses flow through and as the cat goes bad, this honeycomb will break loose from the inside of the cat's can and get turned sideways, clogging the outlet. Beating the poop out of the cat from the outside probably knocked it out of the outlet, but it's still there and might break up and clog the muffler.
