Title: looking for a new wheeler this year

So I'm looking for a new rig to go wheeling/ camping/ rallying in by next year. I've always liked the look of the Sidekick Sport and figgured I'd start with a SAS. Can one shoe horn in a 2.7 v6 into a SS? Would a GV be a better start? How do they weigh in against first gen kicks and GVs?
