Title: ? about waterproofing breathers

so i wanted to know what everyone is doing for waterproofing the breathers on the front and rear ends as well as the t-case and tranny. Does everyone just run rubber hose to a high point in the vehicle or is there some sort of one way valve you can use to to further protect from milky lube? I have heard that there is some sort of valve that they use on 4wheelers that might work

need advice bad ??? ??? ???

I would ike to know abut this as well.   A buddy of mine has a Land Crusier and it just has a one way breather valve on his diffs.  I would like to go the same route, any ideas if it would hurt the diffs if you hit cold water fast and they could not breath?

   Most people just run the breather tube up as high as possible.I have done this many times with no problem.

There are one way valves but they do not work as well as running the breathers together to a high point.

You can do this very cheaply, you just have to get some breather nipples.  You can get them off of nissan hard bodys and some other rigs.  Just pull out your old breather and screw in the new one and run a line up high.

hey Amilla i know i have been tapping you for knowledge all week but do you know which vehicles in particular have the breather nipples you are talking about. And whats a Nissan hardbody?

Yes, they do use these on dirtbikes and atv's.

They're not what I'd call cheap. the one I'm posting is from the parts list (#13) from my bike and retails for $29.83!
It's just a rubber fitting at the end of the tube with a slit in it. They seem to work, but hell, it's cheaper to change the oil!

dres here are some pics of what you want to be looking for.  If you go to a junkyard just start looking under Isuzu's, Nissan's, and Toyota's.  Just look for hoses coming out of the top of the axles and heading up into the body.

They fit in your pocket so nicely too! ;)

4x4 nissan hardbodys are nissans 80s pick up.  IFS front, and a funny looking body.

I just ran mine up high, and then looped them back down about 6 inches.  Kinda like a reversed water trap.

Never had a water problem and I've been through 3-4 feet of water/mud before.

You could also plumb them into your air filter box.
If you ever manage to get water into them there milky diff oil will be the least of your problems.
