hey, i am new to the site. i have had my tracker for about 8 months, but was always curious to know what the biggest tire size stock CV's can hold. I have been on 31" muds for about 6 months now, no problems. Appologize if this has already been posted, but idk, im stuck ???
thanks

I got a set of 33x10.50x15 super swamper boggers on my tracker but I also have a 2in suspension lift and a 4in body lift. They don't even rub either. It all depends on you lift and the type of tires you want to run.
-
i hope not to experience any problems with that size tire 'cause that's what i put on.
i'm sure it has a lot to do with how hard you beat it.
i crawl when offroad and mostly worry about the highway getting there and back.
no cv problems yet(except a boot replacement).
-
oh ok, well i currently run 31's on my 91 tracker right now, with a 3" body lift, and they are fine, but the thing is so beat and rotted out that i am buying another one and wanted to do a 3" body lift, 3" suspension and 33's, go a little bigger, so i was just curious to know if 33's would safely work.
how about gears?... i know 31's are like max for stock gears, any suggestions?... it will be driven on the road as well so its both a daily driver and a 4 wheeler
thanks

??? There's gotta be like 300 posts on this subject in the archives.

my sidekick handles 33x12.5x15 just fine
and with 538 gears the speedo is right on
-
i run 33's and stock gears with calminis 6 incher no prob a little slugish on road 5:12's in diffs

Well, the diff gears were upgraded to the 5.12's. It is an auto....
I snapped a rear axle shaft!!! ;D
-
hahaha, i love that huge smiley face next to your last statement... makes it that much better lol
-
Yeah, I was HARD on it and it is spooled in the rear and 31" tires. The cv's are great if the front remains open. If you put a locker in it, you may see some breakage. If that is the case, kicker37 on here makes some toyota cv conversion kit I hear... With that kit or some other cv upgrade, I think mikerpm on here runs 39.5 x 13.5-ish tires and claims to have no - to little problerms!!! NOW THAT'S BIG!!!
-
holy ass... that is hugeee haha.. are solid axle conversions like massively hard in trackers?.. i cant imagine it being easy but always wondered how bad it would be lol
-
I think there is a thread on here somewhere titled: Heather's gone straight.
Boondox motor sports states they have a leaf solid axle swap in the works. Trail tough has a sweeeeeet coil set up called the Trail Slayer.
-
Hah, being locked front & back, and regeared to a 4.24:1 and 5.83's, I snapped the driver's front AND the driver's rear axles in a single hop in pritchett canyon (moab) on 31's.
Since then, I upgraded to 4-Runner CV's and Calmini 30% stronger rears, and 33's, with no problems.
-
Do you have to do the hagen widening mod to run those???
One of the many things on my to do list!!!
-
if anyone know of this thread for biggers tires please let me know
-
I feel like a whimp now.i am all excited about running 30's or mabey 31's max when I eventualy finish my rig.
-
thats what we all said
-
right when i bought my tracker for 800 bux, about 30 hours later there was a 3 inch body lift and 31's on it lol... im buying another one in better shape n looking to do 33's with 3 inch body/ 3 inch susp. >:D cant wait

Well...that depends! My 4-runner axle implementation was done a bit differently than it's done today, so no, I didn't need the Hagen Widening mod. If you use the kit Stan sells today, I think you DO need the Hagen widening mod.
-
If you are running a stock front end, you need to widen it for Stans toy CV kit. If you have an Anvil from Calimini, I don't think you have to.
-
Thanks for the info...
Boy do I want that Anvil!!!!
-
ok so lets say ive done the...axle implementation or "the anvil" with "stans kit" whoever he is... LOL...(Hi stan no disrespect)then how
big of tire can I go???
-
I beleive Mike was running 35" on his Kick before he rolled it.
Stan I beleive is running 37" on his rig. And now Mike with his new rig is running 39.5"

Do a search for Rockstar.Version 2.0 is the latest and greatest. If you look through the Zukfari pics form 2005 and 2006 you will see Stans Yellow rig and 2005-2008 you will variations of Mikes.
The the article archives for the Zukfari write up's.

I believe that Mike has a custom built Anvil and Stan is running a Ford 9" front..Both with the Toyota CV Kit's.
