i fixed the fan switch on my tracker and i fixed the ac button and now the compressor won't come on...'
help
-
low freon?
-
when you turn it on does the fan behind the grill turn on? Did you just do a conversion from non AC to AC or it quit working or what.

The fan won't turn on if the system is low on refrigerant (protects the compressor). IIRC, the pressure switch controls whether both the compressor and fan turn on........so low refrigerant=no fan or compressor operation.

okay i looked at it and it has plenty of freon. and i checked the the wiring and the relays. i've traced all the wires back to where they go into the firewall.there is no power to the compressor but there is power to the a'/c fan.

That is exacly why I asked...

I have installed 4 A/C's in the past year into non A/c sidekicks as it is very hot in my neck of the woods, so here are some things I learned.
Have you swapped the relays for the compressor and the fan? that will help you rule out the relay. usually the fan comes on with the compressor. Have you put 12 volts to the compressor wire. it should activate, if not bad clutch.
Second, there is a temperature sensor in the intake manifold that may be open. Take the wire off and put it to ground and everything should work.
Third, if there is no change , and you checked that all the wires are good, you may have to replace the A/C amplifier(computer). I have had the computer go bad on 2 different trackers. In both cases, the circuit for the fan did not go to ground to turn the fan on, but the system should work the same for both the compressor or the fan. I bought one from Trail tough for 45.00 I am sure hawk has em.

How did you look at it to determine it has plenty of freon?

i uused the ac charge pressure dial when i charged it. i used a test light and checked every thing from the compressor back to the relays..... idk..where is the ac computer?
-
the AC computer should be near the engine computer
-
it is attached to the evaporator facing the front passanger seat.

thanks i'll check it out
