Title: performance 1.0L????
Post by: bandit86 on June 01, 2008, 09:57:03 AM
has anyone ever heard of a done up 1.0L sj engine?  with a whopping 45 hp and no torque I thought maybe a bit of a buildup with readily available parts might be what my lj needs.  maybe a turbo blowing through the carb as a last resort

actually, I dont even know what the compression ratio is, but probably low enough for a turbo.

The most popular upgrade over here is a 38mm SU carb and a header - a good power gain can be had from just those modifications. The 413 ignition is used for reliability. There is also a company in Europe that sells a manifold for twin Webers. The engine was used in the Whizzkid and there is a site with some info on tuning. Before the 413 was launched there were a couple of companies marketing turbo conversions. PM me if you want a scan of a magazine article.
Cheers
James

The 1ltr Swift engine is a 3cyl, the 410 engine is a 4cyl.

There was two different model of Turbo Chargers available for the SJ-410 in the UK, I haven't heard of anything after market though.  Putting a turbo on a carbed setup is always tricky.
