Just bought a new WEBER carb and put it in and took it out this weekend and had some fun in my 86' zuk. runs great until i go up hills........start up hill and as soon as I hit the bottom of hill in 2nd low I start bogging and seems like it is starving for some fuel....so i adjusted the float and it works a little better and messed around with Distributer Cap, and timing. And all in all its better but still bog's out when I get to the top. Should this weber do this??? My stock ran better that this!!!!!

oh this is no surprise my friend, weber cards are notorious for uphill bogging, switch to fuel injection, youll never go back!

as far as i know there isnt, webers are great for power increases, but on the trails then tend to have trouble on steep hills, which can become very annoying...

im soo upset >:( is there a carb out there that will work?? how much would it cost to switch to EFI??

There is another style of carb you can switch.
Take a look at side draft carbs, no up hill bogging.

If it turns out you don't feel like buying a new carb, you could flip your carb 180* so that it wont flood out going up hills.....just going down.

i experienced the same symptoms on climbing. i think fuel was spilling into the air correction jets.
i remounted the carb. "backwards" w/ float bowl to the firewall and limited the float drop.
this seems to have cured the problem on climb.
i thought i would still have the problem on down hill, but i haven't.

A couple of things that may help. First, why did you mess with the timing? If it was correct with your stock carb, it isn't magically going to move. Set it at factory specs and leave it alone for now. Second, what do you mean by bogging? I think most of the responses here assume that you mean that the engine is flooding out and coughing sputtering black smoke. BUT you may mean that there is a loss of power? Which is it?
General info: The newer Weber design has the float bowl vented to the charcoal cannister so the old floodin' out problem is gone. If you have an older design it is possible to convert to an "offroad" version.

Well your other post with the dying and then restart sounds a lot like a fuel filter OR float bowl adjusted too low. On your Weber, I'd recommend getting one of those $15 fuel regulators at a parts store and regulate your fuel pressure to 1.5 lbs. Reset your float bowl to it's correct location. Also set your timing back to stock. Now, go out and try it. Only change one thing at a time as you adjust.
Below is a pic with instructions on float levels. Also, for the adventurous, a performance upgrade... Try at your own risk.
