Hey guys!
Just finnished my 1.6 8valve swap into my sammy!! Runs great!! The harness from TT worked so nice! My question is???? IS the temp sensor in the 1.3 the same as the 1.6? The reason im asking is when i let it warm up the gauge on the dash go's really warm!!! Almosr to the hot mark. And my 1.3 never did? I dont wnat to over heat my motor! So i was wondering if i should swap the sensor out of my 1.3 into my 1.6 to see if that helps? What is the proper operating temp of a 1.6 8 valve?

I would try swapping the sensors if they will do that! They might have a different operating range!

Has anybody had this problem when doing the swap? I have to get an Infared Thermo to check for sure..

Common problem, swap the sensors and it should be fine.

Could this also be why im running rich?

No the gauge and the EFI sensor are different, temp sensor has 1 wire by the thermostat
I think it is

SO is there a sensor for the temp for the EFI? And if so where do i locate it on my intake?

It has a bosch style plug and 2 or 3 wires, its on the left side of the intake
in the thermostat well, the gauge one is to the front and has 1 wire

Did you swap the radiator too?
It is possible that if you kept the 1.3 radiator but didn't have it cleaned (assuming that you are lucky enough to have an older all-metal 1.3 radiator), it is possible that the radiator is causing your problem. Plastic radiators cannot be cleaned because most radiator shops will not mess with trying to disassemble the plastic units and then try to put them back together. Metal units are FAR easier to put back together!
The 1-wire temp sensor is very similar on both engines. I have used a unit out of a 1.6 engine on my 1.6 engine with a 1.3 head with some success - it didn't track perfectly but it worked okay. I also used a 1.3 sensor in it with success. I keep breaking off the wiring tab, then go to the pick n pull for a replacement from Samurais and TracKicks. That's how I found this out.
