SO My manual locking hubs are fried. I am leaning towards the Warn hubs but see they are listed several different ways: "External Mount And Flange Mount, Not For Front Axle Disconnect Systems" Anyone know how to decipher this? Also what is "front axle disconnect systems?" Thanks!

When replacing my 10 year old factory hubs, I went with aftermarket thinking they would be better :-\, but after blowing apart a set of superwinch hubs (no fault of their own, twisted an outter stub shaft in it), I called Hawk and got some good used factory replacements...and never had issues out of them.

The "front axle disconnect system" on my old ?T100 used a vacuum setup to disconnect one side of the front axle to disengage the drive to the front instead of using hubs, as on the older 4x4s and our trackkicks.
I put Warn hubs on my zuke when I got it because the original hubs were shot. I caught a bit of flack on a couple of these forums, but they have served me well. The major complaint seems to be that they come loose at inopportune times. I cleaned out the bolt holes well and used loctite on the bolts. They haven't loosened yet.

Thanks guys! I think I am going to go with the Warns... RRO has the premiums for $124... those exact hubs were $235 at NAPA. Hawk has some used ones for $75/each but I like the lifetime warranty on the Warns. Reb, thanks for the locktite tip, I will make sure I do that from the get go

I have some used originals $40 shipped

With the Warn hubs, use lock tight and check the bolts before runs. Without the cone washers they have a habit of working their way loose.

Years ago I had a couple of Scouts. The Scouts' hubs were similar to Warn (if they weren't Warn) and used a soft washer-type part which, when bent over the mounting bolt head, wouldn't allow the bolt to turn. I know some Jeeps used the same type of locking device. I have several that I am thinking about trying, tho they don't seem to fit as well as they should. Has anyone here had any experience with them?

I bought Mile Marker hubs and have had no problems with them. $110 |removethispart|@ AutoZone 3 years ago.
