About 3 years ago, Calmini sold a 2000 Suzuki Vitara they had built. It was a 2 door with 2.5 liter V-6 and automatic transmission from a Grand Vitara with many other mods. They called it the CALMINI Project V6 Vitara Extreme. It was white with a factory hardtop.
I would like to locate and buy this vehicle. Please help me find it so I can talk to the current owner. All help would be appreciated. You may reach me at ghebenstreit|removethispart|@msn.com or my cell of 303-594-9737 or on this BBS system.
Thanks, Gary

Actually, I think the guy that bought it is named Gary. Rings a bell anyway. Is a member here. Do some searching.

It's crazy awesome and all that, but it's silly not to just build your own. Piece of cake.
Update: Here you go.

There's absolutely no chance I'd part with mine.

Many years ago I had a guy follow me almost 20 miles out of the mountains leaving Tellico Planes just to ask me what I wnated for mine, after the 'it's not for sale' and the 'any thing is for sale for the right price' reply and counter: I explained to him that it would be in the mid 20's before I would ever begin to think about selling it.... he left and headed back to camp :P

Not to worry Zig, cause I sure do love that ride... but thanks for the pm. I"ll send him a reply just to see how deep those pockets are.
When I heard the Proj Vit was for sale I had to have it. Steve stalled me off for a month while the shop cherried the rig out with all new decals and detailing. There wasn't a scratch on it and it ran like a scalded dog.
I gave Calmini $16,500 cash ( some said too much but I don't think so ) I've added a Curry built Ford 9, 5.83 R/P w/ARB locker and Explorer disc brakes w/Lokar e brake. I built a one off one of a kind drive line that runs smooth as silk at 80 mph. With welding, cutting, engineering, blood sweat and swearing thats another $4,000. Swing away tire carrier $350. Modifying, cutting and welding the fender wells to fit five new 32x11.50x15 BFGs, $1200 tires included. It drives and rides like a sports car on BIG tires.
Cost so far $20,000. I just bought a new big blue Z decal for the hood. Next in the planing stage is SAS and a few more dollars.
It now has 30,00 miles on it. Whats it worth ? I don't know or care. If someone makes me a really big offer...I'll build a new one. Only this time I'll take pics and post all the build steps and get me the much coveted "Enthuisest Contributor" tag under my name... 8)

Gary, I don't think the 16K or so you paid for that truck was too much IF it was worth it to YOU (and it sounds like it was). Money comes and money goes. You can't spend it and enjoy it if you are deathly sick or dead. Money, as well as just about every other physical object in this world mean absolutely nothing when you're looking death in the eyes. BUT... even WHEN you do eventually become "old and feeble"... you will at least have the great memories of your life experiences (and owning that sweet ride is no doubt one of them) to reflect on and remember. NO ONE can put a dollar amount on great memories. Great memories = a life WELL lived.

nprecon....Those are prophetic words for sure. Where in Indiana are you ? There is a lone zooki grasshopper in need of guidance up near Indianapolis. Check your pm...

It seems that the offer to buy the Calmini Project Vitara Extreme is for real and somewhat reasonable. I am only concidering / thinking at this point.
After rereading my 1st response "I"ll send him a reply just to see how deep those pockets are" I believe the deep pockets remark was out if line. I'm sure there are members of the board who might think my pockets are pretty deep, which is not true. I have a few hard earned dollars I have squirled away over the years. It is not my intent nor the policy of Zukiworld to disrespect fellow members of the board...I stand corrected.

Gary,
I received your PM. I live northeast of Indy about 40 miles near the cities/towns of Anderson and Muncie. I sent the grasshopper a msg today and cc'd you as well. I found several good links on Sean D's website. One of which i passed along to him was the "Balls Deep 4X4" chapter in the Bedford area who are having their annual mudfest in Laurel Indiana on 23-25 August (as I recall). This would be a great opportunity for him (and anyone in the midwest for that matter) to hook up for some fun in Indiana. Southern indiana has some great hills and trails. not nearly as much up north.
As I mentioned to him, the more people I talk to the more I am CONVINCED there are literally thousands of Suzuki and Tracker owners (closet lovers of their trucklets) out there who are totally unaware of the aftermarket options available for thier trucklets (as was I about a year and half ago) as well as the impressive capabilities of their trucklets. I'm going to do my best to continue to attempt to steer as many of these owners as I can to our forum as well as the Zuwharrie forum. More members, = larger events, more friends and more demand for aftermarket goodies = more manufactureres offering more for them to choose.
Take care.
