Post by: clockwork on July 17, 2008, 02:01:20 PM
so i dont want my tracker to have the chevy bowties on it anymore and i was thinking of ways to take them off.
what would i use to take off the tracker name and bowtie thats stuck under the door trim on the front doors?
i tihnk they are just stuck on with the 3M vehicle tape.

just looking for suggestions so i dont ruin the paint underneath

12 Gauge shot gun with 00 Buck shot? Just kidding, try warming them up with a heat gun or hair dryer and then SLOWLEY peeling them off. They should just be held on with double sided tape.

Two way tape, do it slowly as it is really good tape. Any decals you should heat up with a hair dryer or heat gun.
To get the sticky residue off, use methyl hydrate. If it's not srong enough use WD40 - then use methyl hydrate to clean off the WD40.

Use the hair dryer to heat the tape up real good and then use a piece of fishing line to saw through the foam tape. Then use a 3M adhesive removal wheel thingie to remove the rest of the adhesive.

Then use a 3M adhesive removal wheel thingie to remove the rest of the adhesive.
Those aren't good to use on a painted surface.

An 8 point buck at 50MPH removed the emblem from the front of my Tracker pretty effectively...   ...removed a lot of other stuff too...

This replacement grille was made from about $5 worth of 1/2 in. PVC pipe from Home Depot.
